New Zealand 2014

Update: everywhere is closed today due to winds. Every where was the same yesterday except for Coronet Peak which stayed open all day and we luckily called it early and were there for first lifts and actually had an awesome day riding. They had a cool little beginners park so we lapped that a lot and got some tricks down pat we were chasing. The weather was crazy, sunny and clear skies one minute, nek Minnit raining and windy.

Tomorrow is our last full day so fingers crossed for treble cone. It’s gonna be raining but we are confident it will open at least!

Had Hell pizza last night and it was yummmm also did our own mini pub crawl to as may places as we could.

Today is big brekkie followed by luge followed by shotover jet! Love QT!

so i’m back from NZ, had a great time even though the snow could have been better!

We got in 3 solid days of good boarding, 1 other day was pretty average as it was pretty much a whiteout. So much snow though, but we couldn’t see where we were going at all. Got stuck in knee deep pow way too much so we gave it up. the other 2 days was spent relaxing and drinking, exploring Queenstown. Couldn’t do shotover jet cause the river was up too high cause of the rain which was a shame. Was gonna do a 4WD tour but we were way to hungover haha..

The days we went where we did, we picked it perfectly! Even 1 day we went up Coronet Peak we found out once we were on the first chair that the other 3 resorts had closed for the day. CP was bluebird for most of the day so we were loving life! Cardrona is really nice, and Remarkables beginner park setup was good so we frothed.

All in all a good trip, Queenstown is an awesome place and I will def be back.. If only we went this week instead!

p.s Cheers Rider for the help with getting the YES BASIC 158, such a sweet board. If anything it was faster and more stable than my 161 Cambered board! Heaps more playful and flexy too. Go figure. Anyways - Love it!

Cardrona

White out at Remarkables

just wondering what everyones methods for luggage and board transport are. ive got a burton wheelie locker so having to put my board snow gear and clothes in the same bag is no issue in anyway.
or does someone have another idea/loophole to have a shot at??

I did the “whoops I don’t know what happened how did it get so heavy I’m such a noob.” Since I started going to NZ from ‘10 and I managed to get away with up to 7kg extra until last yeah when there was a guy at the scales and I had to take 2kg’s out… TWO!!!!! I never had problems until then.  lol.

hahaha yeah that was my plan “still hungover and didnt weigh properly” just wondering if anyone actually had some real tips. all my mates say just roll with the board bags and youll be fine.
if its to heavy im pretty sure it can go through over sized luggage or something?

Check in was at least 20kg (think it might have been 23kg for some reason but don’t quote me on that). Carry on is definitely 7kg with air nz. I flew air nz a few weeks ago and we had our wheelie board bags with all our clothes, boots, boards etc. and were fine.

Hope that helps!

I flew Air NZ to LA with only my wheelie gig bag for my boards/clothes and was sweet.

Just keep it under 20kg or whatever your limit is and no sweat.

Well the problem is that you’ve got a wheelie locker, which weights 7kg.
I had one and sold it it was very hard to get anything good in there… Using a douchebag now and it weights 3kg. BIG difference.

But yeah.. just put everything in the board bag, but be careful, you can fit more than you think. Bring minimal and wear the heavy stuff. (ie if you’re bringing a jumper, put that in the bag and wear your snowboard jacket, they’re usually heavier.
Also bring your boots with you on board, just tie the laces together and carry it down.. that’s what I’m going to do I’m due to go the QT this Wed morning.

If anyone sees some guy carrying purple Nike DK boots with him that’s me. Come and say hi I won’t bite I’ll even buy you coffee. LOL.
