Signals the start of summer…
Last Sat went to Thredbo to pack up my unit.
Arrived that night, did nothing on Sunday (We should of had a shred), rode on Monday and had cheese and wine by the river.
Packed, cleaned and left on Tuesday - but managed to fit in some tennis and showed some form by beating Shifty Ninja (I’ll admit she was wearing jeans and swilling a beer).
Drove to the coast and slept in the swag someplace north of Thathra. Had a spicy vege and noodle soup for dinner and then slept.
A great spot and we surfed the next morning. A little headland that had a good wave. Built a fire to warm our feet and have a cuppa, cooked toast.
Then drove north stopping at any place that looked interesting until we <strike>I</strike> left a door open with the interior light on and had a flat battery after trying to forge a path to the beach. In a NatPark near Birroul Lake (i think), 2pm and no one around. We threw some lines in but didn’t catch any fish so Shifty did some foraging and found some bush-tucker to add to the food we had. AND WOW! What an amazing feed, by a fire pit that kept us (and the wildlife) warm all night.
Tried for the whiting, we saw and heard jumping through the night’s high tide, but caught nothing the next morning.
At about 9am 2 4WD’s pulled up and we got a jump start (I carry leads).
Headed north again; stopped around Bawley Point that night and a little drizzle meant I had to unpack the car to make room to sleep in there.
I did manage to get a fire going - drizzle, dark and lack of dry wood fighting against me. We ate dinner of rice and veges and fought off a possum.
Feeling grubby - the next morning we got a move on and did a tour around Jervis Bay (Shifty Ninja has a job at Huskisson for summer), after lunch we decided to get to mum’s and have a shower then a bath.
Today - Shifty has headed on to her parents in Coffs for a week before we go to Cairns for her bro’s birthday.
We both need a welcome break (after spending the last 2 weeks in each others pocket) and before spending another week together up north.
It’s time I unpack summer and pack away winter - oh! and do summer waxing on 5 boards, wash the gear sun-bath the boots etc…

Am annoyed my boss has been away for two weeks he is due back on Monday and NOW I get sick!!

We sometimes have the weekend papers floating around the office on a Monday. Will check it out.
Just got it. It’s the road test part on page 40. Only small but that’s me paddling haha
