Yeah a rocker will float better in powder but a camber powder board will handle better overall, in all conditions.
Having a board that is set-back as standard can give it a bit more of a surfy feel.
But I think technique can give you way more of a surf feel on groomers and hardpack conditions.
The most common way to turn (once you have the basics down) is by bending down through the turn and standing up to change edge. (Up un-weight turns)
But if you reverse this it has an interesting effect.
Try extending your legs slowly through out the turn and dropping your body weight down to change edge. (Dropping your bodyweight will un weight the board the same as standing up). This is used for moguls, a different approach to powder and carving at high speeds. But I’ve also found it fun to just rip around on groomers like this, to me it feels kinda surf like. You stay low a lot more than usual and every turn feels kinda like a bottom turn.
Give it a go, it’s not easy to explain without showing you. But you might get it anyway being a surfer.
