Nambucca Heads Skate Jail

What happens when you get two old selfish residents across the road from the bloody good Nambucca Skatepark with great local skaters, popular local youth events and a supportive community onside? Well, mix in conservative Nambucca Shire Council and Environment Action with the two fruit loop residents and you get a 9ft barbed wire cage built around the park, effectively putting kids in a skate jail. Without even notifying anyone from the Valley Skaters Association or even the Corrination Park truss they’ve spent $100,000 of taxpayers money to build it with an additional $20,000 per year of ongoing costs of which is being used to employ a council worker to open and close the park at set times. These fences prevent community events and skate comps too as it severely limits the space available. We fought so hard for 20 years to get this park built and finally got our 2 decade long demand back in 2008. Since then; seats, shade cloths, more flat ground and water access has been added. All good stuff, until this.

A Legal Precedent has been set to threaten the future of skateparks all around around Australia.

We will need YOUR help to get this stupid decision out. Please pass this message on for more to see. Meanwhile we are fighting the dangers of kids shredding themselves on the barb wire and hassle of having our good little Skate Park turned into a ugly jail yard. Please see attached photo.
