Nice, great to hear the NZ stoke!

Well I now have flights booked dance
SYD>CHC 28-6
ZQN>SYD 13-7

So a pretty decent stint over there.

Will have to nut out a couple of driving itineraries soon one for if it snows (guessing I power down the middle) and one for if it doesn’t (guessing I go the west coast way)

I’ve been through this thread for ideas for my July trip.  Definitely some good tips in here.  Lots of people seem to say good things about Wanaka. We’re planning on a few days there.  Just wondering what people would suggest for non snow related tourist options for a day off the mountain? Does anyone have a “you just have to do / see this” recommendation? Will also be hitting up queenstown but have plenty of options there alread.

Cheers everyone.

All depends on what you like, and how much $$$ you have, geniass!!!!!

If ya can scrape up enough coin, I’d recommend goin on a Heli Ride!!!!!

Buffet wise stuff, there’s anythin from horse ridin, Bungay jumpin, to wine tastin and cool movie theatres!!!!!

The Southern Lakes district really has tons of stuff to do off mountain!!!!!

Glad you’ve been able to get some ideas. I’m just about to sit down and nut out a couple of driving itinerary’s for my trip.

What I’m hoping to come up with is a slow touristy drive in the case of no snow forecasted as well as a “it’s puking when I fly in get me to the snow” plan.

I’ll definitely be basing myself in Wanaka for a chunk of time to take advantage of the jucy/treble cone deal will let you know what I come across in my research.

Other activities I have penciled in away from the snow is a glacier climb (fox glacier/franz josef if I go that way) kayak in Milford sound, maybe some whitewater rafting, lots of eating and admiring the stunning scenery.

We’ve been to nz previously although not for snow. We did the glaciers last time (half day hike) and will definitely go again for the whole day hike or climbing and be a bit more leisurely as we rushed the drive last time.  But that’s for another trip.

Would prefer less expensive ideas but have $ so happy to spend if worth it.
Anyone done the whitewater rafting/kayaking in winter? Sounds like would be pretty sweet to do even with the cold but wondering if this is better saved for a summer trip?

I’m very much an outdoors person and want to make the most of the scenery.

If ya want scenery, then a Heli is the ultimate!!!!!

I did the Milford Sound/West Coast/Glacier with Southern Lakes Glacier Heli, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done!!!!!

If you’ve got a hire car, drive around to Glenorchy/Paradise as there’s a few walkin tracks/scenic spots/activities, plus the road that leads you there is spectacular!!!!!

Thanks Mizu. I’d heard of Glenorchy but for some reason thought it was a lot further away (don’t know why!). But it’s on my list now!
