20% lighter/smaller
30% improvement on battery
4x faster wifi
New feature “Superview” and “Auto low light mode”.

Is this enough to make you fork out $AU529 for a new GoPro?

hmmmm - the new lense and superview mode looks good, so does the new waterproof housing.
wondering if the new waterproof housing will fit the old hero 3’s? - is the lense the same size etc so technically it should yeah?

cant justify the 500 odd to upgrade tho will wait for the hero 4. maybe a new waterproof housing and that’s it.

As im go pro-less, id consider shelling out for the shiny new 3+

Looks dandy! Good work aint cheap and cheap work aint good!  shred

Weight in housing = 136g
Waterproof to 40m (used to be 60m). 3+ comes with new housing. Still fits in Hero3 housing.
New lens and image software. (I assume software update, released today, will improve some aspects of Hero3 imaging).
Battery improvements are due to replacing the Hero3 battery with a better battery. I wonder if new battery can be used in Hero3? It gave Gizmodo an extra 30mins.

About the only good feature I see is the superview mode, it stretches the image (with little distortion).

I’m glad I sold my 2nd hand Hero3black last week at a decent price.
But I wont be buying the 3+

yeah. be nice if we can use the new battery in the hero 3 black.
also will the old hero 3’s be able to fit into the new waterproof housing? I like the look of the slimmed down housing.

wont be upgrading tho.
wait till hero 4 next year

Yeh its 30% lighter, longer battery life, and a new mode that adjusts the frame rate to,compensate for low light conditions, apparently its smaller too.

only thing that really interests me is the battery life, ill wait till either the price drops and get it before next snow season, or till the 4 comes out.

I’m currently looking at a rig for my dslr and an L series weather sealed lens. Which should be good for park runs! (will probably use the 7D over the 5dMKII as that’s my baby lol)

Hero 3 will fit in the new housing.
Both 3+ and H3 have the same dimensions. Only the lens and WiFi chip are different hardware (and the waterproof housing).

Hero 4?? LOL
The 3+ is not yet available!

Note:
3+ silver edition doesn’t get the new Lens, SuperView, Auto Low Light, or things like 4K @ 15fps or 2.7K @ 30FPS.

All you get is the new and improved battery, waterproof housing and it will now shoot 1080p @ 60FPS and 720p @ 120FPS.
Silver 3+ is only $10 cheaper than the current GPH3b (but a wiser purchase if you’re a GoPro fanatic).

I’ve covered the 3+ more detail in the photo/video part of the forums.

That philosophy doesn’t ring true for GoPro. Yep, they are a pretty good camera but the price doesn’t reflect the quality, service or usability.
You should investigate other options before forking over your money.

But in that regard I will take GoPro-less peoples money if they want a GoPro.
But be warned;
The 3+ isn’t yet available. Pricing may change. And I’ll try to convince you of more practical brands that have proven their worth.

Size is identical to GPH3 (the new waterproof housing is smaller but wont go as deep)
Battery improvements depend on mode. You might get about 30min more record time.
