The Plan is to get a group booking on a big place and keep the cost low but accommodation good.
You can bring friends! just let us know how many (and get them to sign up to http://www.boardworld.com.au) wink

Your name is added to dates your available to go or want to go - nothing is confirmed - it’s just to get an idea of what dates to work around.
Bold are dates you will be there or the days your restricted to.

When the numbers increase we will begin to lock in dates and organize accommodation.

I think we should “ball park” a maximum price for accom.
That way when we have enough people set on dates we can begin to lock it in.

What sort of total budget is everyone thinking they would put aside for the time they want to be there?
include:
Lift pass : about $85/day
Food : $50/day
Drink :
Accom : (as per first line of this post)$100-$200/day. (could be less)
Hire gear : (if needed)

From experience $50/day on food is ‘eating out’ on the cheap- breakfast, lunch & dinner (a coffee and muffin is over $10, burgers $15, 1 pizza=$30) add hydration to that.

I recommend getting accommodation on Crackenback Ridge (ski-in ski-out) that way coffee breaks & lunch are easier than a cheap’n nasty meal. We could even have a BBQ each day for lunch! (ski-in/out have BBQs)- I’m not volunteering you Mizu wink but…. It would make a more social day and regular meet-up point even for those not staying there (like myself)

A big place will also make for an ideal location each night for the days video’s to be showed. With people bringing their own grog and food we will easily half the costs of buying stuff locally.

I believe we could all get away with budgeting $250/day (max)each for all basic expenses; if we have 10 or more confirmed. Thoughts Mizu? is that unrealistic?

Hey, if the dates stay spread out like they are we could book a place for 2 weeks and people can stay for their desired time frame and the next arrivals can fill their place.

We could also include a food expense with the accommodation and organize the food in advance if people are interested. - Thoughts?

So is that a big house or apartment style? (i.e Own room and bathroom)

Whats the go with parking up there?

What about the Thredbo Hotel?

Only stayed in Jindy for NSW riding.

Crackenback Ridge are big houses. With many rooms - depending on which place - can have several rooms with on-suites, games rooms, drying rooms, sauna…... Think 5star self contained. It’s the rich of the rich accommodation. Peak season they ask $4K-$12K a week. I stayed there on Sept 20 with 5 friends for $190each/night.

Thredbo Hotel - vary - apartment style.
There are a lot of places that compare to the hotel.

And many similar to places on Crackenback Ridge. But Crackenback Ridge

IS

the bottom of the Supertrail, 200m up from the main chairlift. (it features in almost every one of my daily run vidz)

Woodridge estate (I & II), Steamboat… the list goes on. In National parks every bed has to be available for holiday makers so even private accom is up for grabs and some big named people own places in Thredbo (mostly on Crackenback Ridge)

Parking

There are a few spaces at each place on Crackenback Ridge (it’s like suburbia). The closest public car park is 5min walk (10 up hill). The furthest overnight carpark is 20min walk. But there is a free shuttle bus every 10 min 7am-7pm. Thurs & Sat until midnight (nightskiing). The killer is a parks entry pass (I think it’s $15/car/night). If you have a “All Parks Pass” ($200?) you don’t need to pay - it lasts 12 months so will cover you for any trip to Perisher or Thredbo. National parks inspectors seem to be nazis in September on this.

Maybe something like THIS?

I think we are planning on equaling that cost but with a better set up.

Thredbo has a Indoors high altitude training olympic swimming pool with a water slide and mission inflatable (20m floating obstacle course). The building was constructed for the Australian Institute of Sport and also has a huge gym, ping pong tables, 2 full sized basketball courts and enough room to play ‘back&forward;’ kickball. There is also the duck ponds for swimming and a Golf Course, which happens to be on Crackenback Ridge.

The other end of the scale is to go through Thredbo YHA. Rider said he knows someone there.

There will be prizes, fun competitions, serious competitions, “Chemical Storm” snowboard demos, Boardworld video & photo shoots and more!!

Man that sounds AWSOME! What a great idea! raspberry wink

I totally forgot the weekend of the 9th to 12 falls on Father’s day. Can I change it to the following weekend? (16th - 18th of September).

How many extras do you think you’ll have Jeff?

Avatar

I’m not sure at this stage. I would say at least half a dozen at this stage but I won’t be surprised if numbers did increase. I think I might have to organise our own accommodation if there is a big group of us. One of my mates, Matt Kitshon is keen to come down for the weekend. Matt is a top DJ up here and it would be awesome if I could convince him to organise a ‘small’ house party.

Would be awesome if people wanted say Wed -> Sunday in a big place? and then add extras on the weekend if they want to join. Could you get a price for that Spaz and see if they will accept us for Wed -> Sunday?

Then we can work out how we split the costs etc and who would be in for each day / all days. And if we had to, swap places on the Friday into a bigger place for the weekend warriors.

I will have to check, but i should be able to do any weekend dates. and any date after september 16. So put me in for those. Im super keen smile

Looks like I’m scratching the first week of Sept for me. I’m hooking up with a Ultramarathon Runner and might be following him across the Nullabor Plain late Aug into Sept.

I’ll be in our troopy not running. I’ll snowboard 800km but not run across an alien infested road!
