Overnight snowfalls across Falls Creek and Hotham Alpine Resorts have been welcomed by guests who are now out enjoying fresh powder turns on August 8.

At Falls Creek, 23cm of fresh snow fell overnight and skies are clearing to produce a bluebird day on the hill. The average natural snowdepth is heading to the 1m mark, currently sitting at 96cm.

Sister resort Hotham received 20cm of fresh snow and it’s still snowing across Hotham and Dinner Plain. Snow has fallen down to 1000m and the Hotham Airport runway is being cleared of snow ready for the next arrivals with QantasLink today. The average natural snowdepth at Hotham is now 81cm.

There is exciting news for powderhounds too. Hotham’s ‘Heavenly Valley First Tracks’ will commence at 7.30am tomorrow for the first time this season. Australia Drift T-Bar opened yesterday for the first time also whilst Hotham’s Extreme Zone and Gotcha Chair are currently being assessed.

At Falls Creek, International and Lakeside areas are being assessed for opening soon.

Snowmaking has been underway at both resorts and, with more snow in the forecast, the resorts could potentially see another 35cm fresh snow on top of last night’s falls by Wednesday next week.

when i do a season in aus falls will probably be my first choice smile

Man, I still rate Falls as the best resort in Aus. Perisher is bigger, Hotham is steeper. But everything added up Falls wins for me everytime

Avatar

Its a tough one, falls/Hotham are def my fav 2 resorts. Ican split them, Hotham on a powder day, falls for park.

Hotham on a mid week powder day. Falls on a weekend powder day. Falls is easy to get awesome slackcountry
