My cam pole is about 70cm while compacted, telescopes out to about 130cm. As it is a walking pole it is quite light but also rigid enough. I did find it a bit of an effort to hold up the gopro2 at full extension, gp3 may be slightly better. here’s some vid I shot with the pole probably out most of the way, say 100-110cm (jump to about half way).
Is that just one of those extendable hiking poles? Was thinking of going that way but some others mentioned they might flex. Yours looks fine.
How did you mount the camera?

Yeah, just a hiking pole. It doesn’t seem to flex. I used a GoPro handlebar mount - I just have it on the plastic collar for the little basket/disc thing on the bottom of the pole. You could probably save a little weight by mounting it some other way.
Sweet. I already have the handlebar mount, so I might give that a crack.
That’s a sick video Miz!
I’ve been meaning to sort out some sort of pole for mine. I might try and knock something up tonight seeing as though I have nothing doing.
Cheers mate!!!!!
The good thing about longer poles is you can get a decent amount of yourself in. Some of the shorter ones I’ve seen result in chopped-off legs in the video output.
Yeah, totally agree!!!!!
This was taken with the cleanin pole out at ~ 140cm!!!!!]
Nice edit man! You definitely get some better footage with the longer pole. Maybe the size of your pole does matter
I’ve only got the ‘grip’ pole. It’s not too bad when you’re following people, but like Mizu said, you can’t get a great view of yourself.

The longer pole is actually quite good for following also, as it can let ya get closer to someone without ridin too close!!!!!
Like I said before, the only down side is havin to lug it around, but then muckin around with any camera is a pain in the arse I guess!!!!! Especially when there’s pow to be had!!!!!
Cords?? When was the last time sportscamera actually posted on here? Support those that support BW. LIKE ME.
Its nothing personal against you, spaz. It would be weird if it was since I’ve never actually met you in real life.
I like them as a company. I liked them before I ever saw them post on BW and care little if they do or not.
They were the first relatively local company I knew of that went full on into R&D with different kinds of mounts and poles (especially for booging) for gopro & other cams, stocked all kinds of accessories (both official and that they had developed themselves) and had a well organised online shop. They also sponsor some riders now, 1 of whom is a mate.
Its very easy to point people to something like that, rather than a guy on bw who has his heart in the right place but is at the snow with a dodgy internet connection, no online shop and concievably might not even see the message!
People want to be able to research something they want to buy immediately - here, now and today.

Counterweight or a strap around your wrist.
Counterweight works best and provides stability in the footage.
when i was in japan i bought i pole. It was actually a handle from a window squeege and cost me $2. Once i had enough of carrying it around for the day i just threw it in the bin, minus the camera of course
I’ve done that before too. I just splurged and got the GoPole now. Really good build quality and easy to use / light.
I had. $5 cob web broom handle with the handle bar mount.. But I’ve upgraded to the go pole too.. The end attachment on it is awesome.. And if fits down the side of my bag when I’m not using it.. I got the reach, so its 17”-40” which is long enough!
used it all this season and no complaints
I spent $20 on an Ebay telescopic one with 1/4” thread for cam connection. I used it too much in the ocean and then left it in the garage without using WD40, it lasted one trip to the snow but got some decent stable footage with it. When I got home I decided to put some WD40 on it but in the process of telescoping it out I actually pulled it totally apart, they don’t recover from that so i just ordered another one that I might treat with more care.
The thing I like about it is that it fits in my pants cargo pocket so it’s secure and not likely to injure me should I fall as I won’t fall on it. I do need to remove the camera but that takes about 11secs and it goes in the cargo pocket on the other leg.
See this thread I made a gopro pole for unde $10

And it fits in my backpack…
