Hahaha
hahahah walked right into that one, didn’t you, jez! haha
I know that this has probably already been talked about but I’m not reading 40 pages of content so here goes;
1. How do you get your police check done?
2. How did you guys do your photos?Otherwise I think I’ve done the rest of my documents.

I actually unknowingly submitted a Victorian Police Check as opposed to one issues by AFP. It’s practically identical but resulted in my first application being refused!
As for the photos, I just have mine done at the local chemist.
Yeow just got approved for a 5 year US visa ontop of my working visa I have for Canada!!
For people that have been before what would you suggest re housing in my situation.
-Ill be arriving in Whistler about the 30th of October for the job fair (as don’t have a guaranteed job with the mountain shouldnt bank on getting staff accomodation I suppose)
-So should I stay in a hostel for the first week and try find a room to rent for the season
OR
-Should I start trying to tee something up on all the whistler groups on facebook beforehand or other places?
Have heard how much of a frenzy getting housing is so really dont want to screw this up!!!
Also what areas should I try get?

What the??? How?
Hey James,
It really depends what your intentions are.
If you would prefer staying in your own accommodation, then yes, you should start that process now. If you go this method, you will be locked into a lease, which will prevent you from going into staff housing if you wanted to.
However, if you think you would actually prefer to stay in staff housing, I think hostel for a week, then staff housing is the way to go. Granted, this isn’t guaranteed but there really is no reason why they won’t give you a job.

You got a 5 year working visa for the states and want to go to Whistler? Are you crazy? You’ll get paid almost the same in the USA and everything is so much cheaper!
Seriously go work at an American resort… They have mostly locals or other Americans and therefore you’d be different rather than one of the 50+% of Aussies at a Canadian resort. If you’re planning on staying over there for the full 5 years, you can always get another Canadian visa or there are tons of resorts to move around to…
Jackson Hole, Vale, Aspen, Mammoth, Baker. Heavenly, Telluride, Park City, Squaw Valley, Wolf Creek or A-Basin all sound like great spots to go to. And if you’re in Colorado, there are a ton of mountains you can just road trip to when you feel like it.
Then the best part about locals working there is that you won’t need a car. A good portion of the local staff will have cars and therefore you’ll be sorted .
Just my 2c.
I suspect he is entitled to some sort of Highly skilled migrant visa for the states.
Pretty sure he has to work in his field - not a ski resort.
Go have fun in Whistler buddy - before the shackles of the US visa ties you down
(can ya tell I am jealous though?)
The 5 year visa thing for the US isn’t a working visa it’s just a you can enter and exit without having to do the ESTA. It’s good for people who live in Canada and travel in the US a lot. A friend of mine has one.

Oh? Does it have to be an AFP one? I didn’t realise.

Yeah it does. I can post up the 2 so you can see the subtle differences later tonight.. it’s frustrating for sure.
Nah, all good. I’ve already submitted my application with the Vic Pol one. Guess I’ll see what happens.
Plus my conditional acceptance letter had been expired for a week when I submitted my application. Ha!
Yeah Tobi got it, its basically a 5 year tourist visa just makes life easier I thought as planning on spending a fair bit of time over in the US - Bloody wish it was a working visa!!!!
Cheers rider mate, yeah suppose your onto something there because don’t think being locked into anything is the way to go for me being my first trip over!
Wish the days would go quicker now at least its less than 3 months now till heading over though! Keen to go to some of the season close sales to pickup some of the smaller things to take over, then it will really feel close
And Canadia says Ba Bow, no Tobi we don’t want you.
Tip for young players, submit the 2nd half of your application BEFORE your acceptance letter expires.
Tobi!!!!
NOOOOOOOO
Honestly I’m not overly fussed about the idea. I wasn’t really sure that I was going to use it anyway.
Would have been nice to have and certainly would have made travelling there easier but it’s not the end of the world.
