Whistler is sick, meet up with Finney, Nick Aaron and Sarah and their friends last night for drinks and had the best sleep in a non hostel bed. Back to Vancouver tonight then off to Seattle on Monday smile

Looking forward to moving into my own room already in sun peaks but single rooms in Seattle will be good too!

How are you going about getting from Van to Seattle man? So far all I’ve found (apart from flying) is the Amrak train but the website doesn’t say how much fares are

Ozgirl told me of one which was cheap and had WiFi on a shuttle bus. I thought it was Blitz Bus but I can’t find it. Might have been http://www.quickcoach.com but it’s not ringing any bells for me.

I drove, but don’t do that… Parking sucks and it’s so expensive. And all the Seattle deals everyone raves about really aren’t that special… Touluia is where the premium outlets are, just make sure you tell your bank you are going or they’ll put a hold on your account… That was a pain but did save me like 80 bucks on my board Haha

TJ- do you mean you didn’t buy the board, then found it elsewhere for $80 cheaper?
i’m thinking i’ll just order some stuff online when i want new gear…

Nah, board was $450 + tax. I had $365 us and $50 can. They felt sorry for me and have it to me for $415 inc tax smile.

Shout out to Zumiez in Seattle.

P.s. bus is called the bolt bus

I just looked up Bolt Bus and their prices are really decent, thanks for the heads up!

I won’t have a car though? :(

Aww :(

I’ll see if I can’t organise a road trip with a few people here smile

Still thinking of popping by my neck of the woods or more keen on banff?

I think I’m going to stay at Banff now, purely because my finances are super tight (i.e. I cant actually afford this trip…) and cant really afford to travel around.

I’m at the Samsun hostel at the moment, met loads of awesome people, nobody going to sun peaks since everyone is working holiday club people lol.

Bank accounts are still annoying me but are getting closer to being done. I had $4 this morning since the bank had a hold on my account. I did fix that up though so it’s all good now smile

Hopefully commonwealth bank can pull their finger out and not charge me 100 in fees to transfer money :(

If any one has any questions, hit me up and I’ll help out. Would have been nice to have some of the info I know now when I arrived lol

P.S. my bank card is going to have a Bruins logo on it wink

You can get an NHL logo on your bank card?!?! What bank is this I must be with them when I make it out, Canucks logo FTW!  shaka

Scotiabank, if you apply for your account in BC, They’ll have the Canucks ones to give you directly. If you want another team, they send it out. You can get fees waived for the first year and unlimited transactions (apparently that’s not normal in Canada…)

If you’re coming to Sun Peaks, go with Telus, Rogers or Bell for your phone as the 3rd party providers all are really crap service up here. And if you get Internet in your apartment, make sure it’s Telus and not Mascon cause it’s soooooo much better!

Yeah I’ll be getting a Canucks one for sure! Did you set all your bank things up in Vancouver? Yeah that sounds like a pretty good deal with that bank.

What’s the reception like on the mountain with Telus? Also how is the internet you have in your room, is it expensive to have?

If you head back for the 2014/15 season we will have to meet up smile I am very keen for Sun Peaks, I was looking at Whistler but I’ve been told it’s way too busy! Plus my cousin has highly rated Sun Peaks he thinks it’s amazing!

TJ how did you go about transferring money from your Australian account to your Canadian account?

Don’t ask him about that!!

I believe Commonwealth Bank screwed him about that.

Rider would have it sussed out pretty good i reckon!

But people have used http://www.xe.com before.

I personally (a long time ago!) used http://www.trazfers.com

To be honest I would probably take about $1,000 over in cash with you and use your credit card as well (then pay it off with your savings).
