Revelstoke should be considered as well.
Yes good one Jez!!
Yep, I will be considering Revelstoke also, but would definitely prefer whistler as the season is longer there. Applications open in august for anyone wondering.
Yeah I had an interview early only because I went through a company..
Whoop whoop!! TJ!! You have to apply man it’ll be freakin awesome..
any tips with the interview?
Be yourself, be chatty, try to be positive etc.
Get dressed up and look presentable. Nothing worse than someone who looks like they just rolled out of bed.

Bro, I’m seriously considering other mountains. Whistler seems the hardest to get in and will have the most Aussies.
I am kind of keen to travel half way around the world to meet people from around the world.
That being said, I still am planning to go to the whis job fair but I’m not throwing all my eggs in the 1 basket.
I do want to be in BC though so I could end up doing a day / weekend trip to whis anyway.
I wore a suit for mine and that’s what everyone else was wearing.
Make sure you bring every answer back to your personal and work experiences.
A good handshake goes a long way and don’t forget to have some questions prepared for your interviewer.
Good luck!!
So you are canada at the moment if i understand correctly?
what kind of questions did they ask? just standard behavioural type questions?
Wilmshurst is in Sydney at the moment (I saw him and Sarah last night)
They are going through a program.
If you are thinking job fair, try to have 1 decent set of clothes. Business shirt, Tie and Slacks with nice shoes should do. (They will realise that you can’t exactly pack a suit to go overseas)
Sorry yeah I’m in sydney and going with a program.
From what I’ve been told from a previous whistler recruiter they want personality they can teach you the rest.
Ill try to upload a list of practice questions I got sent.
Know where you are going, know facts about the resort…specific things like how many lifts they have, restaurants, retails stores, brands they carry ect….
If you were interviewing for your specific role…be it hotel maint, cashier, lifty, retail….what questions would you ask a potential applicant?
Be prepared for team work, guest service & safety related questions….
Be articulate – if you don’t understand what you’re saying or confusing your self…imagine what the interviewer is
thinking?? PRACTICE SPEAKING OUT LOUD….!!!! Practise the interview questions i sent, as you will be asked a version
of these same questions….
Why should Whistler hire you??? If you get this question – do not react as though you’ve been asked to eat a cockroach
(looking pained and close to going in to shock!!)...instead…stay cool and calm…take a moment to gather your thoughts as your interviewer is reading your face and reaction…pausing for a few seconds is better than launching in to an unprepared and rushed answer!!! This an opportunity to tell them a skill or talent that your bringing that no one else is…what is going to set you above the rest?? What is going to burn your name in to the interviewers mind and leave a lasting impression…
Whistler as you are aware is the number 1 ski resort in North America and possibly the world… you are going to be compared and scrutinised against other applicants…have your game face on…most people being interviewed for Whistler are way over qualified and have incredible resumes…HOWEVER - you need to be able to articulate your personality, work ethic and ability to function within a team to be selected. Just because your smart doesn’t mean you have a guaranteed job – just because you don’t have lots of credentials and certificates doesn’t mean you won’t be selected…they can train you to do any job…but they can train you to have a happy, positive personality!!!
Above all…breathe ... smile… like being at the pub telling a great story but without booze and bad music in the background!
BONUS TIP:
Take time to read the job description you are keen to be considered for… research the resort & have some questions prepared.
** Most interviewers will make up their mind in the first 3 minutes of meeting you….make the most of the walk from the waiting area to the interview location….this is “no-man’s land” where there is no desk between you or the interviewer…so have a casual chat with them on the way to the interview seating. This few seconds of casual time is quite honestly where your interviewer gets a pretty good idea about you…so make the most of it. Relax and have a chat…be yourself – resorts aren’t interested in robots!!!
awesome list thanks wilms
and its very true about having a compatible personality with the company, majority of employers these days are staff based where they have a personality type they like and teach the rest later on, not all focused on the most qualified candidate.
Everytime i read an update about the people on BW I just get that much more excited to go!
thanks for that list!
