How did you find the Sherlock Skip?

Avatar

Hmm I thought it was pretty good. Didn’t get to try it on the really icy run starting from solar coaster, only tried it at 7th heaven which has a little hard pack and mostly soft snow. I find it very turny since it has really deep sidecut (I think it was 6 meter-ish). That’s the only thing I didn’t like about the Sherlock in the short time I got to try it (it was actually my friend who demoed it but we switch boards for a bit). Flex is mid-soft, maybe around a 5 out of 10 (mind you I’m 5’5” 150lbs). Pretty stable for a mid-soft board. Still like my T.Rice better.

The youngblood on the other hand I didn’t really like. Felt too loose for me and way too soft, but the base was fast for an extruded base.

My wife and I are getting ready to head over to Whistler. Was wondering if anyone had suggestions for places to stay. I will most likely be riding a lot my wife not so much, so hoping for somewhere kinda near the village/mountains to help with that side. Cheers.

It really depends on your budget. Whistler has everything from hostels to five star hotels. We have a couple of friends staying at the Pan Pacific right now, best possible location for both of you. I’ll find out what they’re paying.

Yeah I’ve got some friends staying at the Pan Pacific at the moment and know another couple who stayed there previously and both have been really happy with the place and both have said it’s reasonably priced.

Had a sweet day on the mountain today. I was talking my brother-in-law and his girlfriend around Whistler for most of the day. I went up for a couple of park laps at the end of the day. The snow has improved with a bit of fresh snow falling overnight. We could still do with more but it was just enough to hold a decent edge. I’m getting off my early season rock board and onto my Uninc from tomorrow; looking forward to getting back on it (I HAVE EDGES! haha).

Wow you were still on your rock board all this time Jeremy?!? Were you holding out for even better snow coverage?

Have you sharpened the edges on your rock board at all this season? Or is it too far gone to bother anyway? I still haven’t sharpened my Custom FV, but I’ve used a stone for clearing burs.

Well, I was away for a month and I have been too tired/lazy to set up the Uninc and scrape the storage wax since I got back.  raspberry

Today’s conditions were great! Good amount of snow cover and vis was generally fine.

I had an awesome morning - did Harmony Ridge and then shot over to Symphony. Was riding with a couple of mates and as the knee/muscles felt more stable and stronger than anytime in the last month, I couldn’t resist stepping up a gear and hitting up all the pow. Unfortunately, after what was one of my best mornings of riding yet, the knee got aggravated and sore on a heel turn in the trees at Symphony, so I had to call it a day. It’s a real blow after all the rehab I’ve been doing. I’m pretty sure it won’t set me back too far, hopefully. Bummer too cause I was looking forward to meeting up with Jeremy soon after that.

I’m really sorry to hear about your knee, Dan. No doubt there will be many more pow days we can shred together.

We had a really good afternoon riding Peak Chair. Did a few runs down Frog Hollow and also Christmas Trees; got some really good lines. The snow was pretty fresh on top but I was still occasionally hitting the ice underneath on some turns. Up top was the place to be today. I was the lone snowboarder today, with three really good skiers.

A few photos from today…
