For flights at the moment try Cheapoair. AUD $ 800 return with Veitnam airlines (via Hanio total flight 20 hour) or AUD $ 1100 plus the extras Jetstar wack on. I prefer going in early Feb. I don,t book accommodation. I wait until I am there. Plenty of great rooms available at great prices. I hire a small 4awd for $1500 for 3 weeks. This season I will have allow no more then $5000 for the entire cost for 3 weeks (I don,t drink). That living pretty comfortably with great snow condition.

I is going to Japan 2013.
Have just booked the flights for my yearly trip.
Going Singapore again next year.. got flights for around $1,340 return.
Not Bad when you consider I compared Jetstar for the same dates, and the basic starter fare is $1,152 return.
Add baggage, food & booze, entertainment and the fact that the Singapore flight attendants being so so so much better in the eye candy, I think I got a bargain.
16/01 to 30/01, I am travelling, arriving Kansai.
Now, all I have to do is figure how long I can go snowboarding, and where I should go.
I am thinking, off the beaten track, and a place where not many gajin go.. Any Thoughts peeps?

Gonna stay Honshu?????

Yep… inlaws live in osaka and will be basing myself there for the majority of the 2 weeks.
.. did some small resorts in gifu earlier this year.
don’t know where to go next.. would love to go to nozowa, but I may only have 3 or 4 days spare so it could be a biatch to get to for such a short stay.
Really want to go back to Myoko, especially to sample seki-onsen

Just FYI way more Gaijin in Nozawa than Myoko if you are using that as your yard stick. Not that that’s reason enough not to go there it’s a great place.

Def not using that as a yardstick.. for the last 2 years, I have been to resorts in Gifu, and loved the fact that I could count the foreigners on 1 hand, and that was just at Dynaland.
I was the only gajin hitting the onsens, and thank goodness the didn’t give a damm about tattoos.
Been to Myoko Kogen, but sadly wasn’t able to get to Seki.
I have always wanted to sample Nozawa, as I have heard so much good things about the place.
Has anyone been to resorts around Yuzawa/Kagura? Seems easish to get on to the sinkansen

Nozawa is pretty cool, but I reckon ya need to go when the snow’s dumpin at low levels!!!!!

Super easy transfer from Nagano Station via Keinan Bus!!!!!

But!!!!! Don’t go on a weekend as it must be a super magnet for the Japanese as I have personally never seen crowds in any resort, anywhere like I have at Nozawa!!!!! (It was not a holiday either)

And sooooo many onsens to chose from, I reckon you’ll find one that suits!!!!! Plus the Ogama Cooking Onsen is just downright cool to grab some corn and an egg to scoff after a good day on the pow!!!!!

Other than that, I reckon a PM to Gamblor will get a few good recommendations on places to visit, as he’s a resident further up the alps!!!!!

How bad are the weekend gondala lineups at Nozawa!!!!!! Weekend warrior capital.
During the week I was riding straight onto the lifts all day and often be me and whoever I was riding with that day alone on the run.
Im looking at buying a shitbox van to live out of for a coupla months this Jan Feb cruising place to place car danchi style. Never any work here so…..

Mate, after poaching the trees, makin the way through the crowds in Shinjuku Subway was like walking through a Gost Town, compared to the shoulder to shoulder groomer fest of Noz on the weekend!!!!!

Such a difference to the empty mid week!!!!! Like Day V Night!!!!!
