oh and i may have a few days to spare and do sapporo after niseko, just depends on what others are doing and how im going at the point really
Having never been there but my guess is due to the sheer amount of western tourists in Niseko there will be NYE shenanigans?!
While there is a couple of western style joints, everyone is pretty well spent from ridin pow all day to get too wild!!!!! Plus they are nly small establishments, so nothin can really get to out of hand anyways!!!!!
I still haven’t really seen the “Bogan” element that everyone talks about!!!!! Maybe one idiot last time I was there????? Actually saw three Aussie Trash in the Bakery at Nozawa in the middle of the day!!!!! WTF?????
Only disappointin thing I did see in Niseko was the rubbish thrown in the bus stop on the main drag!!!!! Dunno if it was from Aussie’s or what, but I’m pretty damn sure it wasn’t from the locals!!!!! Some people need to grow the fuck up!!!!!
I did see a maggoted euro dude face plant into an icy driveway!!!!! Pretty funny!!!!!
I still haven’t really seen the “Bogan” element that everyone talks about!!!!!
Me either!!
And my opinion means nothing???
Please don’t just book with Deep powder tours… run the quote pass us before you book.
Settle down miss center of the world
No im not going to actually do the whole thing with DPT, i just wanted to get a quote as a starting point
Any deal ya get, just fire it through to DPT and see if they’ll match it?????
The beauty of gettin them to do it is that they have an office in Niseko, and if anythin goes to crap, at least ya will have an avenue to vent and get it back on track!!!!!
Plus the same company operate FYVE also, so it’s pretty cool to have it all linked!!!!! (Not 100% sure on this, and maybe Jeremiah can confirm/shed more light)
I still haven’t really seen the “Bogan” element that everyone talks about!!!!!
Me either!!
I still reckon it’s a conspiracy to keep people away from the awesomeness that is Niseko?????

Yep personally after today’s shenanigans I am glad DRC stays away…

Is it pick on me day/week/life! I’m still not quite sure what I did wrong!
I hope I’m not being bundled into the Niseko is full of bogans crew as I don’t believe I’ve ever said that?
Sure Niseko certainly isn’t and hasn’t been my first choice of destinations in Japan as personally I enjoy the challenge of being somewhere I little different and throw myself into the lifestyle/culture as much as I can. I really haven’t been anywhere that extreme (didn’t speak english in Myoko for around 4-5days would be the extent of it) but you can’t really argue that Niseko doesn’t have a higher Aussie to local ratio than most other places bogan or not which is not what I’m travelling for.
The worst behaviour I actually saw was at the Nozawa fire festival it was disgraceful but apparently they were all off a tour bus from Hakuba which word has it has gone drastically downhill.
The thing that gets a bee in my bonnet is the amount of people (not necessarily on BW) who seem to think Niseko is the only ski field in Japan brushing aside the other 500 or so they have there.
My plans for my next Japan snow trip are probably going to be based around Hokkaido which will surely include a bit of time in Niseko (maybe you’ll all spot the bogan then!)
Yeh might just kick about in niseko mizu. Big plans until you get home from a day if shred haha got 4 weeks so ill see what the lads are keen on and see where we end up. We already getting a 4wd and missioning for a week or two
Mmm I’ve stopped drinking because of the inner bogan. There might me a chance that inner bogan will be released on the poor unsuspecting Japanese locals.

Ummm besides the fact you said that anyone who associates with me isn’t pure…. LOL
You may not have said that Niseko is full of bogans BUT (and this is going to sound harsher than I mean but don’t know how else to say it)
by writing off Niseko (and you pretty much have previously - the above post is the first time you have ever hinted about checking it out) you are just as bad as the others who have only been to Niseko.
There is a reason why Niseko is number one… And on top of that it has the best back country and tree skiing (thats easily accessible if your not gamblor…) than any other resort in Japan. And you love your trees!
And I hate to break it to you but Hukuba is the second destination behind Niseko… so by removing only one resort (the best) I am not sure how different you are being?
And for the record the first run I did on Japanese snow was in Happo One, not niseko..
I genuine say the above with love and confusion…
(also you may have not said full of bogans but you have dismissed it as full of drunk aussies… you don’t need to drink to enjoy Niseko..)
Ummm besides the fact you said that anyone who associates with me isn’t pure…. LOL
Well you need to remember you are discussing this with the virgin mary here!
You may not have said that Niseko is full of bogans BUT
I’d be surprised if I had ever said it was just full of drunken Aussies (happy for you to dig around search and prove me wrong I will apologise if that is the case) and I typically preface most of my comments in regards to that area as I’ve never actually been there or eye witnessed anything of the sort.
All I’ve ever tried to make clear on these forums is that there are other choices worth looking into. Personally I’ve only done Hakuba, Myoko and Nozawa (a drop in the ocean compared to the 500+ in Japan) but plan on doing many more including Hokkaido. I’m under no disillusions that I’m breaking into any uncharted waters here as you can find Niseko, Hakuba and Nozawa in most tourist brochures. I found Hakuba a good initial introduction to Japan as it also allowed me to experience other tourist sites within Nagano as well as being easily accessible to and from Tokyo. As far as snow and overall experience went it wasn’t a drop on my experiences this year at Myoko/Nozawa.
Yes I have probably said in the past that Niseko will have a much higher Aussie to Local ratio than just about anywhere else in Japan and I stand by that. You also can’t deny that I don’t discourage people from seeking information on Niseko, I help where I can and refer them to more experienced people in that area (yourself, Mizu, Billy to name a few) when I don’t know the exact answer.
In fact when I met up with Dylan the other day I said the Niseko + FYVE camp was a fantastic idea I just encouraged him to try to integrate some other Japan related stuff around it if possible as it is such an experience rich country it would be a shame for him to see one small slice. As great as my experiences have been riding the amazing snow the time spent in the villages and Tokyo have been even more rewarding.
I’m not going to get into the whole this place is the “best” this and that as the simple fact is neither of us are qualified to comprehensively conclude that.
Plus the same company operate FYVE also, so it’s pretty cool to have it all linked!!!!! (Not 100% sure on this, and maybe Jeremiah can confirm/shed more light)
I think that Fyve and DPT have just put resources (industry connections, media exposure, pro riders, ect) together as part of a joint venture which is basicly the fyve camp

This is very true…
but I will say one thing… it is pretty well known that the highest visitors number are to Niseko despite it is harder//more expensive to get to, generally speaking. But yet still people go.
I agree go other places… (when talking to other people) but I just want you to go, you in particular….
It annoys the beejebus out of me (just cause i love you so you are technically not pure.. ) that you have previously showed no interest in going and I really really wish you would…
So yeah these post make me very happy if you are truly keen to go!
I never said anything about bogans. i just said westerners.

Yes but I think unfortunately that lends to my argument that generally people aren’t informed enough about the available options. Niseko may well be the “best” but for the average punter it could also be the only choice
I think we are going down a scary path if we rate places purely based on weight of numbers.
I’m running out of fingers to count the amount of times I’ve been on a chairlift in Australia and the topic of Japan comes up. 99% of the time the person will say ahh so you’ve been to Niseko? when I mention no I’ve been to Hakuba/Nozawa/Myoko I’m often greeted with a blank expression before I launch into my geography lesson.
Niseko is no doubt world class and I personally find it depressing each time I go back to Australian standards (but I continue too as overall I still enjoy it) It has also been brilliantly marketed, my aim has never been to say no don’t go to Niseko (as it would be very hypocritical for me to do so) but I do aim to broaden peoples options and if they choose Niseko in the end so be it I’m sure they are going to have a fantastic time.
Yes I can assure you I’m dead serious about some Hokkaido adventures of which Niseko will be a stop. Naturally I want each of my trips to be better than my last so surely I wouldn’t be rooting against team Niseko now would I?!
If all things go to plan I’ll be visiting Japan many more times in the future but before that I myself need to broaden my horizons in the direction of a USA/Canada trip beforehand!
I’m not overly brand loyal. I purchase based on whatever suits my current desires/needs at the time. This extends to my travel I’m not going to fly the flag for one particular place I believe choice is good!
Ok now that we’ve got that off our chest can we just agree to get a long (love if you wish) for at least the next couple of days. I’m on holidays and meant to be chillaxing not BW raging!

Deal but only if we can agree on one thing - along should be one word not two…
For the record I am not raging I’m just trying to raise my post count whilst trying to get a rise outta you!
