I just finished watching a SERIOUSLY exciting big air comp. I think the location has everyone stoked.
One of my favourite all-time skaters Bob Burnquist took the gold medal making him a 3-peat Big Air gold medallist.
Bob is now tied with Shaun White for 2nd most X-Games medals earning his 23rd medal in Brazil. 1st is still Dave Mirra.
The competition was judged in 3 sections:
25% for the the gap in the 1st section.
25% for the quarter pipe in the 2nd section.
50% for the full run in the 3rd section.
Our own Jake Brown won the first section and made skate history with a score of 24 / 25 for his Ollie 720! Becoming the first person to land it not just in competition but anywhere!
Bob followed closely with a 720 rodeo earning a 23.5 / 25.
Almost every skater in the finals landed something pretty amazing, but Bob’s switch tricks and consistency landing difficult tricks took the veteran to first place.
The final results:
1st - Bob Burnquist (Brazil)
2nd - Elliot Sloan (USA)
3rd - Jake Brown (Australia)
I’ll post the video as soon as they release it. Definitely worth a watch!
I’ll be here waiting for the video! Big air skating is f#$king nuts. So good to watch.
Okay, got the wrap up vid and the individual vid of Jake doing the Ollie 720. Amazeballs! Enjoy
