Yep, I’ve been counting since a bit over 200 days.. When I got to 99 I started a thread!! 7 weeks today, or 49 days till season open.. And 8 weeks till my first trip ( just a weekend..) so excited!!
also Trent, awesome gif!;
mr. radpants!
I’ve said it before. Radpants is King of the GIFS!
Should I mention I’m going snowboarding today here? Slushy park laps anyone?
I think I better because my snowboarding will be all done for the season pretty soon…and I’ll be jealous of you guys in a month or two!
This is just how winter arrives on the east coast - today is a special day it’s the day winter arrived this year. Friday 14 April 2012

watch from 7am today (sat)
(pretty cool to watch the whole thing really, its sunny.. Then snows, then melts from rain..)
That’s a great link h0z.
:screenrecording:
After completely melting on Saturday.. Olympic got another small dusting of snow this morning!!
it is raining everywhere else (even Mt.P - not sure about the very top.. But on the cam all I see is rain)
I wouldn’t worry too much now. There is another system on the way before opening weekend. If it stays cold enough after that, they should be able to man make enough to at least open a run or 2 for opening weekend
I’m going the weekend after opening.. (did the same last year) aaand they opened blue cow the day we got there, so we were some of the first 15 or so people on blue cow that season!! Loved it!!
Also tj.. Not worried.. I know it won’t really hang around and start making a base until end of may.. Early June… Just excited, that’s all!
Don’t want a base until June.
Before that it will stop water getting into the soil, water in the soil is important to get the ground cold and keep the base longer. Rain until June is ideal.
5cm into the soil the temp is 4℃ it’s those 5cm that need to be wet when the freeze hits.
Snowmaking wont even be considered until 14 days before opening weekend - and only by Perisher. FV will hold 5% of what they make through the day, after a few days melt will wet the ground, freeze and more manmade will start to survive the days.
Thredbo will turn the guns on the week of opening weekend - maybe on the Wednesday, it will melt Thursday. Thursday and Friday nights they will pump them hard and push any snow down the hill they can for the weekend.
