Corona Beer workers die
SEVEN workers have died while cleaning a tank at a brewery in Mexico City which makes the popular beer Corona.
A spokeswoman for Mexico City prosecutors says the accident occurred on Sunday and that investigators are looking into whether the Grupo Modelo workers died from inhaling toxic fumes.
Building manager Francisco Lopez Bravo told local media the workers were trapped inside the cistern while doing maintenance work.
Lopez Bravo said in a statement there are no other risks at the brewery and that it continued to operate on Sunday.
‘Modelo is deeply sorry for this incident and will support the affected families permanently,’ a statement said. It is unknown if the accident will affect production.Anheuser-Busch InBev has been trying to take over the half it doesn’t already own of Grupo Modelo, which makes Corona and other popular beers, since June.
