Neutral
Not neccesarily a bad thing!

Gees oz, SPOILER ALERT!
I think last season was an El Nino neutral as well, wasn’t it? Turned out pretty good
Yeah but this is Neutral neutral!
Not El Nino going to neutral…
Not having La Nina or El Nino means more reliable weather just not the potential to go AMAZING!
Well seems like they reckon around the 190 mark… so I’m definitely not complaining! can’t wait for the may update.. thanks for the link Oz.. been waiting for grasshopper to update..
pfft, it was meant to rain yesterday, it didn’t!
Believing they can predict the snow by crunching numbers and looking at past seasons this far out is silly (they chose a few seasons not to look at and admit to it). The only science used says it will hardly snow all season and when it does it will mostly be rain. But they know people will read optimistically and it’s written to feed that hopefulness.
I know for certain this is marketing - to be the first to post a prediction.
Which I think is great to get people psyched, but it is what it is.
It will snow in winter. When it’s cold enough they will make snow.
To be more optimistic lets hope global warming models are correct as they show winters will be more extreme as will our summers. And we all felt what summer was like (it only ended a week ago).
Here’s how I view long-range weather forecasting: it’s a fun and interesting game to play while we wait for actual snow. In terms of accuracy, I think it is statistically slightly more likely than not to turn out the way they predict, but no more than that.

THIS!
I think it is statistically slightly more likely than not to turn out the way they predict.
I’ll put money on that double negative or whatever that gobbledygook is, and rephrase;
“IT WILL NOT TURN OUT AS PREDICTED, 100% guaranteed”
I can predict that it won’t be as good as Japan!!!!!
Ohhhh, but it will be better than Ethiopia!!!!!
Indeed.
But Ethiopia does have very big mountains!
At 13,000feet they are high enough to have enough snow to slide on a few DAYS a year.
Big Mountains doesn’t always equate to Big Snow!!!!!
Don’t forget ya helmet!!!!!
Climate observations for Australia.
Maybe we will get some extremes in cold and snowfall this winter?
Does anyone know where i can find out what weather partner we were in during 2000?
We had an epic season and NZ not so much! (i know i was there! )
This years long range predictions are shaping up to be the same and so i just wanted to know in 2000 was neutral too.
This has some good info,
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/mpaine/snow.html
also, by the look of this graph, 2000 was la Nina, but 2001 looks to be neutral…
hope this some what helps??
