Hakuba Accomodation Recomendations

Hi guys,

I have a week booked in at the Gondola Hotel Hakuba and have convinced the missus to extend our stay in Hakuba for a few more days.

Rather than book with the same place, I would much appreciate if you guys have any recommendations for other places to stay in Hakuba.

We are both students so we are on a bit of a budget too.

Thanks for your help!

Welcome to Boardworld, shannonjc! cool smile

Oz beat me to it.

Great location right near the base of Happo One. You can literally ride down to the hotel (need to duck out of bounds a bit on the way home but it’s an awesome ride). Family run and they are awesome. Seriously they are an awesome bunch of people. Full breakfasts every morning and the hosts are more than accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay there and I would definitely return.

Oz, what’s/where’s Wadana? I’ve never heard any reference to that before.

I was writing on the tablet so thats why mine was so short!

Agree with every thing Rider had to say. except to add the on site Onsen is pretty cool!

Where did you have to go out of bounds to ride back to the hotel???

Wadano is an area of Hukuba in the same way echo land etc is named. Basically Wadano starts where the olympic rings are at the bottom of the hill (if you driving)

I will try and find a map. But the areas are used as reference on most accom site to show you where about in Hukuba you are. Also grouping of restaurants and the bus route… Everything LOL not sure why you hadn’t heard of it!

Wherever you stay, if you can, stay within walking range of resorts.. There is a shuttle bus system in Hakuba, but it’s a massive PITA, especially if you wanna get fresh tracks early and miss the first one or it’s late… I stayed in the heart o echo Land in a pension and it was fantastic, but yeah the shuttle bus really grated my potatoes!!!

Make sure you go to the chunko nabe restaurant owned by an ex-sumo.. It’s AWESOME!!! shaka

Does any one know how long it usually takes for the highmount to respond to emails? I am yet to hear back from them.

Sumos would definitely know good food :D Will check it out for sure!
