The Recognition Thread <3

Avatar

One thing I really love about Boardworld is the community we’ve built. There are a lot of awesome people on here who are selfless and generous. So many of our members have gone out of their way to help one (or many) of us. Please keep this thread for what it’s intended for; giving recognition and thanks to those members who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Please feel free to give recognition to any member who you feels deserves it for whatever reason.

I will start…

I want to thank trentradpants for all his time, effort and resources that he dedicated towards getting the Boardworld van all decked out with branding. Trent went out of his way to volunteer his help with this. He spent heaps of his own time helping me get vinyls printed and helping us get them onto the van. He even volunteered to apply the vinyls himself if we needed. He saved us thousands of dollars and the van looks awesome thanks to him! He did this not once, but twice. Trent is a champ and I am very grateful for all he has done for us. The van would not have been completed without his generosity and expertise.

I want to thank chucky for his generosity, expertise and time that he is invested into Boardworld. chucky has helped me with so many things behind the scenes. All the awesome contest posters, logos (Oi Mate! and When in Whistler), contest initiatives (World Snowboard Day) and just the general ideas and advice he has put into my head. Never has he sought credit or recognition. I originally told chucky to please invoice me for all the work he was doing. I reminded him a few times about this. The invoice never arrived. While often controversial, chucky is a passionate and generous person who has helped me greatly. Thank you.

I want to thank spaz for his time, effort and generosity in helping out with interviews and filming. spaz not only travelled great distances to help me out, he has also been filming a new intro for us in the early hours of the morning. spaz has sacrificed a lot to help Boardworld with no gain in return. I want to thank spaz for busting his ass for no reason other than to help Boardworld and me.

I want to thank the Boardworld media crew who were at BOWL-A-RAMA. fmf, tomstott, walker and end user worked their asses off all day on Sunday and they did Boardworld proud. The were also on standby the day before, plus they worked hard in the days prior to get the interviews done. Again they did this with little or nothing in return. They killed it and really did Boardworld proud.

All our moderators deserve thanks and recognition. The amount of time they spend behind the scenes moving and deleting spam is ridiculous. They keep these forums clean and spam-free. What more could you ask of these guys. They invest hours and hours just to make sure our community runs smoothly. NBG in particular was putting in a huge effort to keep the surf section they way it should be. Thank you.

I want to thank ozgirl for helping us with Twitter and social media. Kim is always looking out for everyone behind the scenes, whether it’s organising lifts for us at the snow or organising meet-ups. Kim is a true friend to many of us and always goes out of her way to help. Thank you.

I want to thank lanox for all the time an effort he has been putting in to help me with technical configurations behind the scenes. Lano has been putting in countless hours during and after work, staying up late working on a project of mine. Lano has offered to help me numerous times regarding technical website issues. He has never asked for anything in return. He helps because he is a great friend and just an awesome guy. Needless to say, this project that’s going on behind the scenes would not have seen the light of day if Lano didn’t step in and make it happen. Lano, thank you for everything you do for Boardworld.

I know there are a lot more people who do a lot for Boardworld. I want to keep this thread current and I will be adding more recognition as we go along. I encourage you guys to do the same. If someone deserves recognition, please give it to them.

Good idea, Jez.  A big thanks to everyone mentioned above, and especially Jez himself for holding together such an excellent portal for boarding knowledge and discussion.

great idea for a thread Rider!

As I have told you over and over you have created a great community here which has continued offline as well.

I would like to say thanks to Mizu and Tambazz who have opened their homes (and got me billy!!!) to me and other BWM.

The fact that so many of us are friends IRL def contributes to the greatness of this community.

And the fact that no one is excluded everyone is welcome is great

Peace Love and Mung beans!!!

If you have never been to a meet up then make sure you get to the next one if the opportunity arises!!!

I forgot to thank the sponsors too, thanks for the fantastic gear!

I want send recs to Just Giver - the great woman behind the great man.
Someone must be keeping him in check.

Also Tjswish; for always putting his hand up to help organize or put up dollars until payments come through (he is far from a rich man) so props to you mate.

I must say I do recieve ocaisional recognition from BWM - in 2011 my 2012 season pass deposit was paid for by BW members and I’ve received gear from the sponsors since the site launched in 2009. It hasn’t been all without gain.

Like others; we don’t do it for goods or money or recs. We do it because BW is our family and for your family you give more than you get. It’s all worthwhile when threads like this spread the love. Thanks Jez!

Oh yes TJ is a bit like Just Giver… there in the background.

ie spaz got lots of thanks for the first shred but TJ was right alone side him.

And yes he is right alone side me when I organise meet ups and the like! Quite little achiever like that!

Cheers Spaz (and oz who posted in the middle), more than happy to put up money if it means I get to shred with you guys smile. And I did get it all back.

If I’m throwing a few more in the ring, props to Billy for making crazy treks to Sydney and other places. Oz, NBG, Lano, and Dolph for offering services or lifts (more than once) and Anti who has been the first non NSW/VIC to make the shred.

Always willing to throw my hand up and help when I can cause if I can make the forums a better place, then quite often I reap the rewards as well smile

(I can thank Jez and the sponsors but they already get enough praise raspberry)

Thanks Kim and Spaz for the nice words, you guys are awesome!

There are so many members that do so much for BW and make it what it is today. I don’t know of any other website where the members meet up on a regular basis, it’s amazing.

Lets get together soon!!!!

Thanks Rider, I must admit every so often, opening up the surfing forum at times and finding 3 pages of spam was somewhat disheartening but ended up getting through it, not sure what has changed but the spam dramas I was having have almost ended, whoever is responsible deserves big props!

As far as other members go there is a long list of those who deserve recognition for various reasons.

Ozgirl - probably the most BW community minded member there is, has welcomed me and many others into the family home and is always involved.
Spaz - Good source of info, lots of input and from what I understand a big help behind the scenes.
Chucky - Every forum needs this character, informative, opinionated, abrasive, calls as seen and when not attempting passive aggressive character assassinations is quite intelligent.
Deano- Good bloke, quite disturbing at times, some of the stuff that happens to him is like watching myself 7 years ago.
Dylan - 7cms of snow?  No problem, Dyldo’s keen.  Drinks tonight?  Dyldo’s already had 9!  Total snorer though, you’ve been warned….......
Mizu - Went to the other forum for 8 months or so, came back and was still the most prolific poster in here.
Rider - Started BW, nuff said.

There’s a lot of others, special credit goes to Lanox and TJ for attending with Oz the single worst surf school event ever.

I have added trentradpants to my original post. I knew I was going to forget some people but Trent especially deserves to be on my list.

Trent, I am sorry I forgot you but I want you to know how grateful for your time and generosity. The van would not have been completed without you. Thank you!
