Looking to do a season at Perisher this year. Yew.
Does anyone have any contacts up there?
Looking for hospo work, preferably in a kitchen.
Or retail would be alright as well.
What are people’s experience with working for the Mountain?
Cheers
Matt
I spent last year doing a season as a lifty in front valley. Staff are great, bosses are great, Can’t complain with $2 beers after work every day…. It seemed to me that majority of the park rats worked in board shops / rental shops on the weekend or they were laundry people for hotels / lodges at night so they could ride all day. I only chose a lifty because I got a free season pass and I was on mountain literally every day.

Got any experience? References?
Matty worked the Snowbird at Hotham for a season, maybe two??
If he survived a season working there, he is a hell of a worker and would do well anywhere
Ahh good old snowbird.
K2 and i had an interesting and eventful few nights staying there last season!
Hey mate.
I’ve worked 5 seasons for Perisher, as a lifty originally and then as an instructor.
Lifty is always a good place to start.
It’s fun, can suck sometimes but you always get reliable hours, and you get to ride everyday if u want to (keeps me happy)
Hospitality is a good option too, like you said.
However, I wouldn’t hold your breath about a retail job. They are pretty sought after jobs. Usually given to return staff that have proven themselves in a different job. I’ve only known one guy who got in on his first season. Maybe if you have loads of experience it’s possible… but not likely.
So yeah, lifty or hospitality are your best bet in my opinion. There’s also concourse attendant on the ski tube (really boring though).
Hope to see you there dude. I’ll be teaching in Smigs and Front Valley as usual.
Good Luck!
PS. You are reeeeaaaaally late in applying for this. So take what ever you can get lol.

Andy? Like american andy who taught in front valley in 2012?
No he’s a different Andy. Andy Aitken is about 6’6’ tall and lanky, also he’s Aussie.
We may have met last year Nake, I spent a bit of time in Brown Block and many late nights (early mornings) in The Man. Was at most parties that happened in Perisher (Jindy doesn’t exist for me).
Did we meet? I would have had a camera on snow, normally attached to my front boot, sometimes on a pole or my helmet.

Haha nah man. Not that I know of. I was based in jindy so I was always at LJs / banj. only went to the man once. You back this year?
Undecided.
The job is still open. I need to put an application in.
Normally I don’t do a real job in the snow and this would be the first time working for the company, that’s in 15 aussie seasons.
