ok, back on topic.

Uncle Hulka, I am willing, with others in my family to test your bindings for you if you wish.
We will not charge for this service and will send them back when finished with a full report on how we found them, any issues etc etc.

This family shreds. I would take Azz up on the offer, UncleHulka.

GUYS, PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD ON TOPIC!

I just tried unsuccessfully to split it into two threads (not for technical reasons, it’s just all over the place).  confused

Take the Mac vs PC stuff elsewhere. Start a new thread if you have to.

*Sorry I had to raise my voice. red face

Quoting so it stays on this page too.

OK, so back on topic - we’ve established that all Strewth need to do is market their product well to be successful. Irrespective of how their product actually performs, if Strewth market their product REALLY well, they can actually sell it for twice what it’s worth!

Glad we got that sorted.

Good to see some Aussie’s making bindings.

It’ll be tough though since most people buy popular brand names.

No one if they don’t hit their funding target.  If they do and they can market like Apple we’ll be paying $700 a pair.

Chucky you and I agree on many things but I’d just as soon wipe my arse with an Apple product than do anything else with it regardless of discomfort.  You hear that everyone?  If I’m testing the Strewth bindings in the slack country and need a bushbog, hide your Apple gear cause I don’t carry toilet paper.

Flamin’ heck! Go to work for a few hours and the loonies take over.

OK, so to get serious for a moment;

The prototypes are made by “rapid prototyping” process. Ie, They’re printed on a 3D printer from Nylon powders, and are close to production material but not as strong. They’re Ok for gentle riding and testing the mechanisms, but not not what you want people doing real abuse testing on.

Cost for ONE prototype binding (not a pair).... $5k! That’s just getting one made, not for designing it.

So now that we’ve been through four of those, and a few rough metal ones before that, we’re ready to get real production samples made.

Now here’s the rub. To get production bindings made, you need production tools, and these tools cost in the neighbourhood of $100K! Strewth!!!

So the Indiegogo project we’re running a few aims;

1) Raise awareness, and get some feedback.. do people want them?
2) Raise the funds to get the needed tools made,
3) Get the real production samples under as many riders as possible to do the real fun stuff and flog them like a dead dingoes donger.

Unfortunately we don’t have a lazy $100k lying around, and we think $185 is a pretty good deal for a pair of bindings. So it’s a “you rub my back and…” well I haven’‘t seen any of you guys, but I’m pretty sure I don’t want to get shirtless with you and rub body parts…so let’s just say, you help us get the money for the tools and we’ll get you some bloody good bindings for 185 smackers!

If we fall short, we’ve got some options to make up the difference, depending on how far away we are, but we want as many people as possible to be riding them and giving us thier feedback. We’ve already got some ideas for improvements from the forum feedback so far. Just need to work out how to shrink the barbie & esky enough to fit on the highback.

So now we need people to do the hard bit and reach into the wallet and hand over some clams…. If you don’t spend it, you know your wife’s just going to buy those new curtains you’ve always wanted instead. If we could throw in some steak knives we could, but instead maybe we’ll just make it a free piss up at the Brumby bar or something instead.

In fact, there’s an idea, if you get on now and we hit the goal, we’ll throw the card over the bar for a piss up/launch party. Jindy, Thredbo, Perisher, wherevr everyone wants, and if we get enough Vic supporters we’ll have one down there too!

Free Piss! (sort of) How can you resist that?

$185. Go on, here’s the link http://www.indiegogo.com/strewthsnowboard Do it now! You know you want to!

Free Piss! Free piss! Free Piss! Free Piss….. Now that’s marketing!
