PRESS RELEASE:

TropFest and BullFest: a huge night of short films at Mt Buller

Mt Buller will host an evening of short film festivities on August 14th, when the Resort screens recent winners and infamous classics from the TropFest Short Film Festival, and announces the finalists of the inaugural ‘BullFest – Buller on Film’ competition.

TropFest is highly regarded as contributing significantly to the Australian film industry, helping to launch the careers of filmmakers including Nash Edgerton, Rob Carlton, Sam Worthington, Alister Grierson and Clayton Jacobson. The festival, which had simple beginnings in a café in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, has since grown to an international event with screenings in New York, Bangkok, Beijing, London and Toronto as well as Australian capital cities.

TropFest will be screened in conjunction with BullFest, Mt Buller’s very own short film festival. Budding filmmakers and amateurs are encouraged to create a film using the Mt Buller logo and invoking what the logo represents – embracing the excitement and passion for life and living. The finalists will be shown before the TropFest screening, and a $1000 cash prize and trip to Mt Buller is on offer for the winner.

Events Manager for the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board, Katie Bowker, is looking forward to a great night of short films at Australia’s highest cinema. “The screening of TropFest and BullFest at Mt Buller is set to be a fantastic evening, and is certainly something different for the mountain. We promise more than just a night at the movies, with a bar, snacks and a great atmosphere where you can kick back and take in a collection of sensational short flicks.”
