. . . Who knows maybe he’ll ditch Burton and make his own company.

Well, he does have Tony Hawk as a mentor.

I don’t know - I think it’s a scam. It doesn’t feel like a big name company which it would be if it had Shaun White really backing it. I don’t see him putting his name on bikes and def not scooters.

I read somewhere that for the Shaun white snowboarding game, they didn’t ask for permission to use his name or something.

It seems a little harsh all this to be honest, the man only wants to sell a few scooters and bits of ramp and stuff.  It’s not like it clashes with his burton sponsership apart from in the trivial helmet overlap if indeed red do skateboard helmets (why would they?).  I don’t have a problem with his business dealings although I find the blatant flashing of corporate logos that seems de rigueur amongst contest kids these days demeans snowboarding.  He’s hardly the only one and shouldn’t be penalised for essentially being the best and hense the most oft seen.
What annoys me more is when people think he’s the best snowboarder, mechanically he’s a killer but stylistically he’s dead in the water.

Red originally brought out the Trace helmet as a cross-over helmet for Shaun. It has the removable ear flaps so it can be used as a skate helmet.

Honestly, I have always defended Shaun White. He is the best at what he does and he deserves all his endorsements. This however, I find hard to defend. Yeah, it doesn’t really clash with snowboarding. But what does scooters or bikes have to do with Shaun White? He doesn’t ride a scooter! So why put his name on it? I’d feel better about have a surfboard with his name on it; at least he surfs!

I think his management team have lead him in the wrong direction here. No one appreciates what he’s done here, and essentially that will cost him credibility and money over the long term.

I agree….If people think he sold out, he did it long ago. who wrote the ‘manual’ on how to be hardcore anyway? Every second rider is covered in sponsorship from non snowboarding companies. Although you must admit the photos of him on Toilet paper packaging floating around are pretty funny!

Ill have to say Aidy, style is pretty subjective and vague though, I think he looks pretty good when he rides.

LOL

look at all the free advertising you guys are giving his online shop

i don’t have a problem with him making money from being successful at snowboarding & skating

if it wasn’t him it would be someone else

i also think his riding style is super clean (maybe mechanical),  but it works & he wins

I think his style is good, but his riding seems to lack soul somehow and thats where the mechanical bit comes in.
