Summer Jib

Avatar

ahoy chaps and chapettes.
just wondering if anyone has ever built themselves a summer jib.  Ive been looking at alot of vids on youtube of various ones people have set up for a little bit of wrist jarring action during the warmer months and with each vid i watch, the more i want to set one up in my backyard. Melbourne is lucky enough to have the city snow park at the moment (well when its open we do) but i want something even closer and cheaper to home.
A lot of the ones ive seen have used wet and soapped up astro turf / fake grass as the medium to slide on but ive heard that its hard to get any speed up for your slides but unless anyone else has any tips ill head to bunnings and get myself some “grass” and build a box. Im lucky enough to have access to plenty of the materials for the box.
So yeah, ever built one post up any pics or vids of what you did.

I think K2 posted photos of a backyard jib setup. I’m sure I’ve seen others posted on here too (CRACKERS?). I’ll see if I can find the threads. smile

I couldn’t find the threads (we are upgrading the search feature soon). Hopefully the boys will point you in the right direction.

Here are some links you might find interesting:

http://www.snowflex.com/ (Snowflex is expensive but it would be your best option for the ‘snow’ material)

I dont have it set up anymore. Was a bit of an epic getting all the gear to my house and setting it up. Slid awesome but didnt have enough run out and axed myself and my board a fair few times on the concrete at the bottom of the driveway

How cool would a kicker into the pool be. Love it! Also awesome set up dude, it’s inspiring me to get a little bit crafty in the backyard.

mates have a full steel rail setup that we used to set up in his backyard, lay down some fake grass/detergent and water and build a run in ramp and hit it when we got bored.

some painful injuries thats for sure!
