2010 / 2011 product info pages on Boardworld

Avatar

Hey guys,

We have started adding the 2010 snowboards, boots, and bindings info pages to Boardworld.

Check out Burton men’s snowboards here: Burton men’s snowboards

Check out FYVE snowboards here: FYVE snowboards

Just wanted to give you a heads up. There will be a lot more coming soon…

Looks great. I think once there are alot of boards it might be better to separate them into separate pages?

I really think you should work on unique Titles in the browser, that would really help with SEO and people finding the site!

At the moment we are limiting each brand to 5 items or so for each category. I am letting them decide which products they want up there. Otherwise it will become too cluttered.

We are currently working on SEO and a number of other things.

Thanks for the feedback!

snowslider, I should be able to tell you more this season when I do product testing (hopefully I will be testing Arbor). That said, Arbor have a great reputation for making quality and innovative snowboards (and skateboards).

How does it feel for you guys in the southern hemisphere to get ‘new’ product that’s been out for a year already? My first impression was that it would suck, but after thinking about it, I think it would probably be good. You’re able to find loads of feedback online on new tech to see if it’s worth buying.

For some brands we are a year ahead. We already have 2011 snowboards in stores.

For the most part I don’t think the consumer is disadvantaged by being a year behind. As you mentioned we get 6 months of quality feedback about the boards, and there usually aren’t huge changes in models from year to year.

The real disadvantage is to the retailers. It sucks that they have to compete with stores in the Northern Hemisphere. The stores over there are at the end of their season and can afford to heavily discount their remaining stock, making it very hard to compete with them.

Really? Do you feel, as a consumer, more drawn to 2011 stuff than 2010 just because it’s “newer”?
I think for me, if there’s no real change in the tech between years I’ll go for the cheaper older model, but if there’s a slight change that could impact the durability/ride of the product I’d go for the newer gear

Companies do a good job of marketing the next year’s stuff as the better replacement for the previous year’s items.
It’s necessary to keep consumers striving for the newest stuff, or else we’d all buy old gear.
Jeremy is right that little changes from year to year, but there’s many of us that feel special having the newest items. I admit I’m guilty of this. We like to be abreast of the newest thing.

For example I dont like to admit that I’ve STILL not rode a board with magne-traction, and I’ve only been on a few camber-alternative boards. I should have the experience and not just hear-say opinion about these products. I was close to getting a skate banana and most of that was due to responsibility that I felt to the industry. Just being an instructor and all, I felt that I should have that knowledge.

I’d probably always go for newer hear, myself because of all of this.
Yet I’ve been on the same board for over 5 years now, and I’m ready for a change. Truthfully, I dont know what I’ll get. I could go the easy route and get a B-custom, which is likely. but I could go a little riskier and get a newer tech-intense board, which is what I’d usually get a few years ago when I replaced my board every year. Life changes things.

I’d like to hear what others think too though.

Personally I’m not drawn to newer gear, unless there is a new real technology in it I really want or need (and that doesn’t mean I’ll buy it either). I have always tried to understand board technologies, and working in stores, riding 100+ days a year, and testing equipment has allowed me to do so. I feel I know enough to not be fooled by new marketing. I think it’s really important to know what you like or need in a board, and base your purchase 100% on getting the correct board in regards to how you want it to ride. 2010 or 2010, black or white - none of it really matters. What matters is how it’s going to ride and how it’s going to make you feel.
