Saturday turned into a drinking fest only a ski resort could manage. Shannon and I hadn’t even rode Cruiser and we had started drinking when we finally found everyone at River Inn - I wrote the day off as a drinking day. Sitting on the River Inn deck with my polecam rigged up as a sun shade, beer in hand, guitarist playing in a Boardworld T and giving BW shout outs.
River Inn - Thanks OzSnowAdventures
Sharing the shade with Billy
That night at Ullr Jeff Pang raffled off the Chemical Storm Octorocker, many ate at Ullr including myself and Shifty Ninja, we tacked yet another bowl of “Prawn Cones” at the bar - unfortunately Shifty and I had our first fight (mid bowl of prawn cones) - thanks to everyone for not eating them while I chased her through Thredbo to make amends. All was good (finding out how well we could settle our differences).
After Ullr the pub crawl began, it was planned earlier at River Inn I would lead us from Ullr to The Schuss via a few establishments.
First off was Berntis. Berntis is the ‘to be seen at bar’ where all the celebrities go when in town. The normal oh la la was thrown out the window when the 15 of us arrived from next door. I don’t know how I convinced everyone to leave after one drink, an entertaining walk up the goat track ending with Fatima collapsing at the top, this led us to Candlelight, from there it is all down hill to The Schuss. We must have had more than one at Candlelight because the next bar ‘Black Bear’ was closing when we left. Given the time, we skipped The Après Bar and hit The Schuss. Candlelight were stoked to have BW mayhem there, the management shouted Shifty and me shots then I sold them an epic photo of the building. The money that moved over the bar created enough profit to buy a new toaster (if needed), they were truly entertained by us all injecting a blast of winter revelry so late in the season.
Finding the way though the car park at Berntis.
Photo of Candlelight the owners want to purchase.
The Schuss had a band playing, within the first few songs ‘Greatest Song in The World’ had us all rocking and singing along, a few shout outs from the band to Boardworld, more dancing and the red permanent marker made an appearance.
Sunday revealed how far the red marker had spread it’s cause. Somehow I escaped with only a few marks and a “X” on my neck. F**k Yeah.
For the first time ever I started a tab at Schuss - bad mistake!
Shifty was cut off (it happens often when the bar staff are friends, not just to Shifty but most of the locals). Mistake #2 was giving Shifty access to my bar tab!
Rhi noticed K2 was missing, I was also concerned and the two of us searched gutters, between cars and every room at the Shred Shed before returning to find K2 hadn’t left The Schuss. At that time Shifty was leaving but reliving our earlier altercation - sorting it out brought our relationship closer. After putting her to bed I returned to pay my tab and collect jackets… only my tab was more than my card would cover (stupid bank). Fortunately Shifty had stuffed the pockets of my shorts with her drinking money.
That was Saturday (of what I can recall).
gotta thank my holiday dad mizu aswell 4 helping me and the other boys out at ullr with organizing the accommodation and also the spanish cockell beer!!
“Holiday Dad”
Thanks mate!!!!! It wouldn’t have been the same without my Holiday Boys!!!!!

Gotta thank the “Godfather” the most cause without him creating the best website on the www, we would have never have even had the chance to go to the greatest party in the world!!!!!

Azz, Mizu and Jez all get text messages at the same time from K2
“Med centre can’t remember a thing”
ouch that landing would of hurt
Two words…. F@#K YEAH!!!
Oh my gosh… I have had the BEST time at the shred. I knew it was going to be good, but never did I thought such a large group of people from all over the place could come together and be best buddies in an instant!!! It was so much fun. I haven’t laughed that much in a long time (poor K2 – trying to stifle laughs with broken ribs – I don’t know how you did it!)
Our trip started south of the border at about 3pm. I picked up Jen from her house in Lilydale, loaded the car with boards, beer, sombreros and shoestaches and made our way up the Hume. Met K2 at Glenrowan Maccas at about 6, and kept on truckin’ to Thredbo (back way, of course) – arrived at about 11pm and met the crew at the River Inn. (Thanks for my new Sandbox helmet Jez, I love it!)
The next day was spent riding with the BW crew. Never before have I ridden with such a large group of people and I loved it! Everybody was so encouraging of each other – it didn’t matter what your ability was. Spewing I didn’t get to ride with Holiday Dad (aka Mizu) after he popped his shoulder busting out some funky moves on Merrits jumps. K2 continued on the ski patrol theme after he tore off like a bat out of hell on the 45 footer (you scared the hell out of us!! Well me, anyway!)
Friday night can be summed up in two words – Grandma’s undies. I tried to skull a beer with Dan – I don’t think I was too far behind.
Saturday was just as much fun as the day before. Highlights include Mika landing his arse in a tree, getting smacked with snowballs (“Billy’s coming” – WHACK) and beers at the River Inn (geez the guy on the guitar was good – can advertise BW!)...Chucky you’re a pisser – you son too – that was so funny with the stickers!
Saturday night was massive. I can’t remember where we went or what we did all I know is that it was awesome. Texta fights, changing ‘Silly’ to ‘Billy’ on pictures in the pub, stealing toasters, bad dancing, TJ’s big win, lawn mowing, colgate shots, shoestaches, Dolph, Boardworld stickers on beanies, guitars, menus, coffee machines, the list goes on…. It was wicked!
Sunday morning = struggle town. Definitely had the smiley going on.. Heard from Blizz saying she was coming down so put my boots on but then after realising no one was riding we met her down in Jindy for a day of fishing with the crew (Oz, Blizz, K2, Mizu, Warren, Fatima, Jensta, Fast Eddie). Poor Fast Eddie – he was calling dinosaurs the entire time. ROOOOOAAAR! We spent the day by the water fishing, listening to tunes and watching the dogs of Jindy getting a free feed.
Sunday night was dinner at a pizza restaurant with Holiday Dad and his kids. We put half a litre of salt in K2’s red wine and he didn’t even notice. After that we went across to Banjos for some more beverages. Another awesome night! Many thanks to Ozgirl for organising accommodation for us – you and your family are awesome!
Monday morning was home time ... .We met up with Mizu and the boys for a *free* breakky at LJ’s. Warren did a really good job of getting us out of there by dropping the biggest fart I’ve heard in a long time. We all got up and ran. Then we moved on for some statue riding, said our goodbyes and made our way back through Thredders for the dodgy road down to Mexico. (I tell you what, the road really does change after Thredbo! I felt illegal!)
Made the standard McDonalds stop in Glenrowan, said our goodbyes to Teacher Boy and headed down south – arrived home at about 5:30… All over red rover
Just want to finish off by saying a BIG THANK YOU to Jeremy and Michelle, and the sponsors of BW (thanks for the freebies!). It was such an amazing week and like K2 said – would be up there with one of the best trips I’ve ever had. You guys are awesome and I’m sure it will get bigger and bigger every year! I’m already booking a week of annual leave and starting a countdown to next year. I can’t wait!!
