Waitin in the doctors surgery gives me the irate’s!!!!!!
So here’s the thing. Any other time of the day, and it would just be an annoyance (albeit a chilly one). However, this was the time of day they shut all the lifts down. All the other lifts I could see were stopped.
I know they (usually) pack up the Kosi chairs at night once they’re done for the day, leaving just a bare cable. Thredbo, however, had no way of knowing I was aware of this (and after only 10 minutes, I’d started thinking that for some reason, tonight was an exception to the rule). 15 minutes, and I was almost convinced they’d shut the lift down for the night and forgotten about me. I was hoarse from yelling, and had started banging SOS in morse code with the safety bar, in the hope it would carry through the lift cable. It was around 35 minutes before they restarted the lift, and I made it to Eagles Nest. Not pleasant.
At least ya with us in order to tell the tale!!!!!
Did ya have ya mobile on ya????
I have often thought of the exit plan, when the lift stops!!!!! Check the height for a straight jump, nearby trees to catapult into, ropes that ya could climb along to the tower!!!!!
Then the reality sets in, and those options all suck big time!!!!!
First regret that came to mind at the time - no phone. Second - not enough layers on. Third - that I’d just watched the Bear Grylls “Worst Case Scenario’ episode on what to do if you’re trapped in a sub-zero situation, and I had nothing at my disposal that he suggested. Still, I thought I was pretty clever banging out the morse code.
Have you guys seen “Frozen”? It’s all about that.

I haven’t seen it, but we discussed it very recently - way too recently. It was right up there in my thoughts this arvo.

chucky should have his own version of that movie out by the mornin!!!!!
Sweet dreams mate!!!!!
Hey silent, sorry I didn’t catch up with you again today. I had a pretty ordinary morning. So good riding today?
Thats OK and I board almost all day with boys, so yesterday’s riding is grest!
Today’s our last day boarding… can’t wait shredd fresh snow whoo!
Chucky NEVER takes his mobile with him.
I don’t know why, the amount I use it to contact people I’m shredding with is crazy. Some of my text conversation is just a list of chairlifts and places in the resort.
There have been moments it could have saved my life (but wasn’t needed) like; falling in a 10’ deep sink hole, hitting a tree and being semi-paralysed. Not forgetting GPS tracking, maps, photo’s (which I should do more and update fb from the mountain)
Still not for chucky, which I always forget; like the time he went for an early shred and took the apartment keys - they had the drying room and locker key with them. How devo was I when I rang and heard his phone buzzing next to his bed.

wow that is nuts. did you talk to anyone at the resort about it? so it doesnt happen again?...was there enough snow under the lift the get to you and tell you though?

Plenty.
Um WOW!
Patroller fail!
We have a patroller ride the lift last.
I think the biggest ‘fail’ is that the very first thing they should have done when the lift broke down, was send a patroller down to check the chairs, and MAKE SURE anyone still on them knew they were accounted for.
Hey silent, did you leave early yesterday? I got up to Merritts at about 2, but couldn’t find you.
FRESHIES all afternoon! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
