JULY PARK AND PIPE HIGHLIGHTS
Wow what can I say? I just had one of the best trips to the snow ever!!!
Friday morning we cruised through to the ski tube, got there about 10ish. Loaded up our gear and jumped on the train. Since the visibility was low I thought I would do the smart thing and grab a locker at the Perisher terminal to keep spare goggles and gloves. (Keep the locker in mind!)
On the ski tube with my bro (Thanks Boardworld for the beanie last year )
We were hanging to go up to Blue Cow and check out Pleasant Valley but it was on hold, boo since we have some first timers with us we opted to spend the day at Smiggins. Visibility sucked, but it snowed all day as was fantastic!
Better half mucking around in the snow.
Loving the snowfall!
As it was getting later in the day, we were desperate to hit up Wild Brumby so we aimed to jump on the 3:30pm tube down the hill. We just made it to the tube and as the door was about to close “S**T! Our stuff in the locker!!!” I have never seen 7 people bail off a train so quick in my life!!! So we wait for the next train. By their website, Wild Brumby was to close at 5pm so when we got to Bullocks Flat at 4:40pm I was rushing!!!
Take the boots off, jump in the car and start it almost crashing into the car parked in front of me! Normally I leave the car in neutral but this time was in 1st. Oops!!! Fang it down and get to Wild Brumby with 10 minutes to spare. Ahhh schnapps after a day boarding = winning!
Friday night we though we would take advantage of the self contained accommodation and cook dinner. With tacos on the menu, my bro, my cousin and I headed to woolworths… EPIC FAIL! I have never seen such a busy supermarket!!! Took us an hour to buy stuff for tacos and bread for breakfast!
After a beautiful dinner out came Cranium. What an awesome game!!! Good fun and a great way for one of the crew to get in with the new group.
Saturday morning we took our time getting ready. We knew we planned on staying late up at the fields so we weren’t in a great rush.
Getting ready Saturday morning.
We knew it would be a good day when the sky was this clear!
We headed straight to Blue Cow. Apparently we had the same idea as every man and his dog! Our beginners headed straight back to Smiggins after one run on the Early Starter! I did a little trekking and got some killer photos:
After taking photos I managed to put in a couple fresh tracks
So after we gave up on Blue Cow, we thought we would head back to Front Valley. We haven’t seen much of Perisher so we thought we would attempt to board back! Glad we did, as there was some amazing views from around the mountain!!!
The Perisher Home trail sucked! Had to unstrap and walk at times
Awesome views!!!
Sitting at the top of Pretty Valley
We stopped off at Mid Station for lunch. I swear the higher up the mountain the more food costs!!! $11.50 for a fruit salad!?! At least we had a nice view!!!
When we got to the bottom we met up with our noobs and headed for some fun at Tube Town!!! I don’t care how old you are that is fun!!!
After Tube Town we headed to the pub for a few drinks before the Slopestyle event was due to start.
Cheers with my bro!
What we watched of the Slopestyle event was fantastic! Loved all the free stuff thrown to the crowd from Skullcandy!
If you look closely, that guy has a beer in his hand!
We left the mountain and rushed down to Banjo’s to try make a dinner booking. We eventually sat down to dinner and were finally eating at 10pm!!!
The weekend finished in fantastic form when we woke up Sunday morning and it was snowing in Jindabyne :-D It snowed all the way to Berridale!
All in all, an epic weekend with family and friends!
Anyone hitting up perisher in September?? (around the 15th)
Nice TR, blizz!!!!!
I only just read it now, and can’t work out how I missed it before????
Put ya foot on the clutch before startin the car!!!!!
Awesome trip report, Blizz!
I’m with Mizu, not sure how I missed this till now.
I think we are all in that boat… must have been dwarfed by a heap of other posts.
Great TR though.
1 Hint, to go back to Perisher from Blue Cow, go down Copperhead Road. That run is soooo fun and takes you to the Smiggins / Perisher T-bars so a quick T-bar and you are back to where you wanted to go
Never take the traverse… That’s for those pesky skiiers…
Yeh, me too. Didnt see it at all.
