I don’t understand all these posts saying “don’t buy a board!”.
Don’t listen to them. Having your own board rocks.
I think it’s great you and your crew are getting into the sport.

A Burton custom is a great board but don’t be afraid to go with a cheaper board. I don’t think the bullet would be a bad idea either. Every single board out there has been snapped by someone, so hearing about one case wouldn’t change my opinion of a board. If the board is made for a beginner (I’m talking about Burton’s) then it’s harder to catch an edge and smash your head in. This could be a good thing. However, many many people learned on regular cambered boards and got smashed many times but still did ok. I caught my edge this season and got my bell rung on a ‘less-catchy’ board with rockered tips, so it is still possible to get smashed, no matter the tech in the board.

Anyways, you’re doing the right thing. Research online, then go to a store and look at the gear, and choose something that stokes you out

I said I recommend a rocker board to learn on because he’ll catch LESS edges while learning. Of course you can learn on a camber (i did) but why the hell would you want to catch more edges?
And I said my friend broke his Burton Bullet while he was learning in his first season. That’s crap no matter how u look at it. And the Bullet is a plank of a board, it’s their entry level board which he will quickly grow out of. So yes, I advised against it.

But I do agree on buying your own board to start on if your serious about getting into snowboarding and have the cash to do it.
With help from a good board store you can get a board which will help you progress faster

Hey team,

It’s now getting closer to my NZ trip (waited a bit of time to buy so i could claim the tax back at customs) and am seriously looking into boards to buy.

Any thoughts on the below items?

GNU Carbon Credit w/Union DLX Bindings package

Nitro Addict board
http://www.ballistyx.com.au/index.php?action=productcatalogue&prodcat_id=755&prod_id=23035&pageID=6234&sectionID=0

Also I have been advised that I should look at Union bindings, anyone have any experience with these?

Cheers team

many people like union bindings. I’m not a fan myself. I have the forces but I like Burton bindings better. Other people here swear by Flux. Just get a pair that look cool and match your board.

both Nitro and Gnu make good boards, so either of your choices would be fine

The addict has the gullwing camber and combat core. It is usually a mid wide or wide though, so that is the other thing to make sure of. What size boots are you?

Hey mate,

I’ve got size 10 Carbon Ruler boots.

Thinking I might go with the Gnu board that I posted
