haha I didn’t eat it but jerkob did…I probably would eat it too if I was that poor and hadn’t packed my own food. As freddy always says “gourmet or not, its all poo in the end anyway!”
Is it quicker to go down through Tumut or go through Cooma to get to Selwyn?

Just look it up by Google maps. It felt longer to drive to Selwyn from Canberra than it does to drive to Thredbo or Perisher. There was a lot of windy roads comings from Cooma after Adaminaby and were very very slippery and icy.
Yeah, if you go through Tumut be careful mate. Take the main road otherwise you’ll go through unsealed roads. Great views, you’ll see some crazy shit (emu’s, wild horses and backpackers in the middle of nowhere).
To be honest you’re better off backtracking to Cooma even though Tumut is closer as the bird flies.
Edit: To Tumut is okay, but Tumut to Yass is bad juju. Avoid Wee Jasper / Yass Rd. Thats ‘Deliverance’ county.
Everything you mentioned about the Tumut route makes it all the more intriguing ha ha ha! When I was living in Melb and doing the drive up and down that hwy all the time I always wanted to take a squiz down that road but was always in a mega hurry to get to Sydney for an occasion or get to Melbs for work again.

I take it you live by the ’ powder or hard packed ice like material called snow but really perisher front valley, its all snow it the end anyway’ theory in the end to?
Soooooooooooo shit, went to go to Selwyn today and got all the way down there and right before the gate the cops were there turning everyone back….
So well pulled up along side the road and made our fun
Looks like we’ve got 2 cars going down to ride selwyn park on Sunday. Weeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! Will be my first shred of the season. Can’t freakin wait! And a good warm up for NZ next friday!
$25 to do a few laps - hopefully they have a little jump up and I’ll be frothing!
They have a cam of the terrain park on their website http://www.selwynsnow.com.au but it only looks like they have rails etc.
Make sure ya get some footage/pics and have a TR for when ya get back cords!!!!!
I’ve still got 3 weeks before I see the snow again!!!!!
yeah I’m gonna test out my new goggle cam thing that I won! I’ve got ideas for a proper TR movie but not sure if I’m gonna get around to it today!
Update:
Went to Thredbo Saturday just gone, had a great day getting my mountain fix. Stomped up the top of this untouched gem. 15 minute walk. 15 seconds to ride back down it But it was fantastic.
Sunday went to Selwyn for a cheap park day with the girls (they got lessons - and had a great instructor, they said better than Thred’s).
The smaller park has been moved in between the tree’s which gives it more speed. There’s two small boxes and one rail there. Good for getting confidence up before moving over to big park.
Big park from memory had 7 boxes/rails. Various kinks etc. Unfortunately the first box is set up in a way that you cant get enough speed from the start of the park gates, so you need to work up to it about 20 meters further up the mountain. A lot of the stuff is still out of my league, but the straight and narrow boxes were good for practicing nose slides and 50-50’s for rookies like me. Unfortuantly there’s no jumps there and i dont think there ever will be. But for park entry + $25 me or my park buddy weren’t complaining for the few hour pit-stop on the way home at Selwyn. Didnt spot any massive feral cats this time.
Hey jason,
Are you and ya mate still goin to the Shred in Sept????
I’m pretty sure that spaz still has spots, and the River Inn has also!!!!
We’re both heaps keen to do another trip. I think im going to Albury in mid Aug to visit sister and drop in at Falls Creek. I was thinking of popping in to see Jeff (Chemical Storm) at Hotham too.
1) Where you going?
2) Dates?
3) Cost of rooms?
It would be good to be riding with a few more experienced peeps.
I hardly classify myself as experienced, but there will be all abilities there, from beginners to instructors!!!!
It is gonna be a blast!!!!!
