A Ipad is a great little unit for traveling showing portfolios and other small presentations. But in the end its not designed for people to do all there work on. If you are looking for a comp you can play games, (not app games but real games) and use programs like aperture, lightroom, photoshop or final cut (use these as this is the photo section) Then you will not get results from any tablet out there.
Invest in the Mac Pro and in the next 6 months save your coins and buy the Ipad III you know it wont be to much longer.
And if you are a PC guy build yourself a sick laptop as you are requesting a mac I am assuming you use one already. So lets not bring up that debate again.
Because Macs are better!

out of all the people i know that have macs and claim they are better, their reasons for macs being better are actually what makes them sh!t.
“oh to get this kind of pc you would have to spend more” ummm no
“oh but macs can do this, this and this” well pc can do those things plus this. this. this and also this, hell i can do what i want on my pc cause
etc. etc. but each to their own
iPads are good, but if you’re being offered the choice of a pad or a pro it’s always going to be the pro!
If you want an ipad so bad, get the pro, sell it and buy a pad that way you end up with the leftover money in your pocket too!!

I run windows on my macbook. Mac is better build quality! no corners are cut, you get what you pay for.
You can buy a PC, afford to have it stolen, dropped, etc. but most likely it will burn out and just stop working, the screen will break but you can then pay full price for the latest model PC for many years for the same price of a mac. The mac will take 5 years to be completely outdated but is unlikely to breakdown or become non-functional.
Mac is for people that demand the best and to get it they are willing to pay.
A mac desktop with 32GB ram - you may as well say it’s a supercomputer.

You realize that it is the software you are liking here, not the actual computer. MacOS is a good operating system and if you like it and know how to use it, then power to you! Personally, I would go Linux over MacOS but each to their own.

Which would be better? iPad 2 or Macbook Pro?
My parents are offering to buy me either a Macbook Pro or an iPad 2 with a keyboard and mouse (lucky I know) and Im just wondering what would be better for things like school work, surfing the internet and iTunes. I’m not really bothered about weight, size or battery life as I’ll pretty much be using it at my desk also, being able to play games such as the Sims or apps and being able to watch movies with a good quality picture is quite important Any help?
Lets be real here, the iPad and the Macbook are two different products from two different streams of consumer electronics, which means its undeniably un-comparable. I have both products and they are both great, however, the factor that differentiate the two products are your uses for it.
From what you have posted the Macbook is the way to go (both short and long run) sitting here and imagining doing any sort of work on the iPad gives me nightmares.
Crackers, it depends what you are using them for. The main reason the I7 is “slower” is because the cache on the processor is better and therefore runs at a similar speed. The advantage to this is that the computer will be cooler and therefore your fan doesn’t have to run as much/quick and it is quieter.
And with a laptop, most people get them because they are quiet, light and easy to use for things like internet and word/excel.
The I5 is for your everyday user. The kind of guy that uses word / internet and plays a game or 2 but isn’t hardcore. Can do video editing but don’t try to edit a full movie etc. Will run hotter than the I7 but will perform well. I would recommend this to parents / students / everyday people.
The I7 is for your specialised person. The gamer, the movie maker, the photoshopper etc.
They have a better cache, often can be overclocked better and will run better than the cheaper chip.
