hahaha well that changes things completely may have to look at some of the others i’ve been considering as you can see i’m trying to get something pretty budget.
Technine T Splatter
Omatic Awesome
Signal OG series
mybe even try a used board? get hell better technology than a cheap one and may only have a few hours on it?
I had an omatic sweet - pretty sick board!

Stay away from Tech9 imo, cheap boards that their pros don’t even want to ride - See Mark Frank Montoya. I had a pair of their bindings and they sucked balls.
O-Matic I have heard mixed reviews. I can’t comment as not much experience with the brand
Signal on the other hand, do a lot of different designs and the one in my living room feels really flexy and nice. I got the OG 151 Matt Hammer Pro for a friend.
Ok i decided to bite the bullet and got an Omatic boron 154 for $220 so i figured for my 1st board i cant really go wrong at that price. When i get more experienced i can upgrade later on if i feel the board is not up to it. Looks like a decent all round board so now i just need to get myself set up with some bindings and boots (which i also have no idea about)
What brands would you recommend for a good binding that wont hurt the budget? From previous posts i should stay away from flow bindings i guess. Not too fussed about the price point on boots though, just want something really comfy. Heaps stoked now can’t wait to try this baby out!!!!!!
Nice, enjoy your new ride!
Burton, Union, Flux, Rome, Ride all make good bindings. What’s your budget?
I’d suggest something like the Burton Mission. Really good value and good features for a $329 RRP binding.
With boots you really need to go into a store and try on a full range of boots.
It’s worth reading this boot fitting article: https://www.boardworld.com.au/snowboarding/content/category/boot-fitting/
Sorry one thing i forgot to ask would any binding suit my board providing it is the correct size for my boot or do they have different methods of attachment? Sorry for all the dumb questions as you can tell i am a complete newbie.
Thanks for the link about the boots, boots was one thing i was not going to chance it on haha. Was probably looking at a $200 to $300 budget on the bindings if i could get some that cheap that aren’t too crappy
any will be fine. apart form the burton est bindings
Get a M/L or L binding and it should fit. Put it in a size 9.5 boot at the store and it will work.
Is it this board?
If so, thats a really good choice. All mountain flex, Sintruded base (their words… guessing its extruded lol) and directional are all good ways to start .
Bindings, you could hit up something like this:

Not the best binding but a solid brand that you can rely on while learning. You probably won’t notice too much difference between bindings as you learn.
Boots, as rider said, go in and find a pair that fits. I got mine from One Track Mind in Crows nest (link above) and they are awesome!
For under $300, I’d up these bindings for sure! On sale at Snowbiz.com.au. The Rome 390s are really good bindings!

Also you couldn’t go wrong with Union Contacts at $240.

i can vouch for the 390’s…well the bosses anyway
yep thats the exact board im getting so i’ll check out some of the bindings u listed and go from there.
The Freestyles are too soft. They are good for beginners but they won’t last him long at all. In the Burton range he should step up to at least the Customs, preferably Missions.

Mate you don’t want the freestyles… they are the Burton version of a rental binding… Also, burton have their channel or 3 screw binding holes which would make it difficult to connect to his Omatic board. + spending $40 more for those Union Contacts is a much better binding for a beginner, soft and forgiving.
