The BOARDWORLD Forums ran from 2009 to 2021 and are now closed and viewable here as an archive
I use youtube and i see all these boardworld videos from vimeo and i was thinking which do you think is better ?
youtube is so yesterday, go Vimeo
Vimeo is better quality i find, even with youtubeHD. Easier to upload. Faster to load vids.
Vimeo hands down!
Youtube will get more hits, everything else Vimeo comes out on top. Why not upload to both?
also Youtube is a pain in the butt with music rights
Youtube has movies in little parts under 10 mins (on average, some uploaders get around this). You can watch full movies and stuff on Vimeo.
YouTube is owned by Google < if you want to increase traffic to your site and increase your result through the Google Search Engine.
YouTube allows longer and larger video uploads to some of their clients (like me) I don’t know why… their partners program or amount you use YouTube or something…
If your a social network junkie YouTube is easier - Google own the big social networking sites.
Otherwise Vimeo - Vimeo is beautiful and their compression engine is much nicer on professional work.
jeremy i would upload to both its just my mum gets annoyed when i upload to much vids and i use to much internet
Another plus for Vimeo is NOW their videos play on handheld devices more efficiently than YT. Especially for embedded vids.
I’ll be using Vimeo this year for the majority of my online stuff.
Yeh, Im so glad I can view vimeo on my iPhone now. Still cant in the forums here. But if it is imbedded into a page it works. In here I have to quote and get the code and watch on vimeo page. But vimeos work embedded on the snow homepage etc
Love it on iPhone.
I have an Android device (tablet) that wont do YT but is fine with Vimeo except it thinks its a phone and the quality doesn’t match screen res.
My phone is Android and it does YT????
vimeo by a long shot!
My phone is Android and it does YT????
It has to do with Android accessing facetime to allow YT to play. The problem is getting my google account to coordinate itself. After spending many frustrating days trying, and seeing many other people not being able to find a solution, I’ve given up.
Like Cords says.
and
Vimeo for so many reasons.
Yup Im on the Vimeo wagon to.
YouTube! The partnership program and fully customizable channel, friends, comments, bulletins, favorites and subscribers all get my vote on the tube, Vimeo looks nice, but I’d prefer to be paid than have to pay for the ‘premium’ benifits.
