Yup I agree too, great shot but straighten that horizon out.

Gamblor is the king of spotting a crooked horizon!

Its a fisheye shot guys…..

That’s what I thought but wasn’t as noticeable as some are around the border!!!!!

I would normally agree about the horizon thing when Gamblor points it out, but I don’t think that it looks outta place in this shot!!!!

this shot is identical but is straight. When it’s an obvious fisheye then of course the horizon will be off, but when you have the wave taking up most of the shot, the ‘THIS IS A FISHEYE’ feeling is lost - just seems like a wide (not a bad thing). whatever, photo appreciation is subjective so if you like it then great.

The first shot has the Surfer standin vertical, and the second without a surfer at all!!!!

I think that maybe havin the surfer on an awkward angle will make the shot seem weird, as opposed to the horizon bein a little skew-if????

All good Gamblor, a straight horizon is the last thing I worry about when shooting with a fish from the water….

Here’s my excuse anyway….. In the shot you have quoted i’m sitting pretty much at the bottom of the wave, in the shot with the surfer in it i’m in the wall of the wave shooting down at the surfer so i can’t center the horizon in order for it to be straight. if i did i would end up with way too much sky and no foreground.

it’s not your lookin through the view finder most of the time when shooting like this anyway… half the epic shots come when the photog is already bailing through the back of the wave and just the arm is coming through for the shot.

How does this look in regards to the rider? the wave looks steeper and the building is straight. but I don’t surf so I can’t claim any expertise. When you shoot just aim more into the wave, stick your arm if you have to. I’m just guessing here.

looks good, but the horizon is still not straight!!!!!

dude, it’s a fisheye shot. it works imo as there’s a balance between the 2 halves of the pic

I can see were you are coming from but i just prefer my edit as the wave looks a lot bigger and powerful, most surfers wouldn’t even notice the background… its all about the wave and surfer most of the time.
