Nudge, great photos all round, but the last one is just awesome!
Hey rider, how thick does the ice get at your house? Doesn’t look to forgiving in the first picture :S
In the first photo it was just starting to ice over, in the second photo the lake was frozen solid. There were guys playing hockey on it. THere were times during the season when it melted and then froze again, really just depends on the weather.
How do you know when it is thick enough to stand on?
You don’t, educated guess. When the temps have been well below zero for a while and it looks fairly solid.
Also if you see guys playing hockey out there it’s probably good to stand on.

Nice it looks like a nice backyard. Sorry if I’m stereotyping but can you go ice fishing in it/have you?
It is filled with Trout, but I think fishing in it is illegal. We didn’t go fishing.
If I get a chance I will post some pics from my last ice fishing trip it was when I was home last dec, Ice was about 2.5 feet thick. No worries about falling through when guys are driving there 1 ton trucks on it.
They could always just roll down those windows and have a shower at the same time.
I do love those clouds.
Woke up this morning hoping to go riding but “Gale and Storm” force winds have closed down the mountain. Took some photos of the sunrise instead:
