Liking the sound of a ‘dressup’ room…....... that for keeping your costumes in?

So all bed rooms upstairs?

lol @ dress up room. In Japan, they split a typical bathroom into 3 rooms : 1)the shower/bath 2) toilet 3) the ‘dress up’ room where you get ready for the shower, brush your teeth etc.
we’ve changed the plans a bit to put the washing machine into the dressup room since we can use the used bath water for the first cycle of the wash.

studio = photo studio/man cave
we have a double entrance so that our shoes etc will be out of sight for any visitors

OK, we just renovated the kitchen…..... stand out items after 12 months of use,

1. Soft close draw runners.
2. Caesar stone bench tops, we have noticed that friends who went with square edges bench have many chips, go for rounded edge.
3. Dish drawer dishwashers, we put three in. Gold if you have a big family. Also, 11 litres per wash, our sink holds 25 litres.

Do you guys do tank water over there? Or is it not an option with the recent disaster?

What about waste water treatment? Worm farm treatment plants are amazing. My cousin has one, very impressed with the unit and how well it works.

Also, we just added solar hot water and feed to the grid solar electricity, worth considering if it is an option.

What sort of heating will you have?

and I am guessing double (at least) glazing is standard where you live?

Do you have snow sitting on the ground at your home all winter?

Tell us about the climate / geography a bit

double glazing is becoming more popular but all the older homes have single pane and are super cold in winter. Insulation sucks in older homes (and some new ones too!). We are going with canadian-style windows - double pane with argon gas in between.
Heating will be a heat pump i believe. It’s called chikunetsu in japanese. It charges during the night using electricity and releases heat during the day.
We haven’t chosen the sink or the counter top yet so that is good info.

If you don’t have dishwashers, make sure you have two sinks.

yeah winter = heavy wet snow
spring & fall = nice
summer = hot and so so so humid

we have paid attention to the way the wind blows for max air movement in the summer from window placement
