Favourite goggles?

snowslider - 17 August 2009 08:56 AM

Things are great.
Getting a little routine down.
Today, well this AM at 4AM, his umbilical cord skin fell off.
So today he got his belly button… lol

Getting up at night, like now, for me isnt really ‘fun’ but a part of what has to be done.
Monday makes him now 10 days old.

Good to hear. I never knew that it fell off (or do you mean scabby tissue?) Sounds like all is well and good luck with work and AM baby hours

Ahahah following that thread created for me and Nic, i realised how much we do stray off topic
Take this thread fo example.
its called favourite goggles and now we’re talking about umbilical cords….

You two seriously have WAY too much time on your hands.
Back on topic..
Just purchased a pair of Electric EG2’s.
C’mon Giant spaceman look! Adios Wisdoms (I found them really annoying when the clips swiveled around and the band got twisted!)
Gonna take em up the mountain in a couple of weeks to see how they fare.

Ahaha. did you get them online or just from the store?

The reason I do not like Oakley goggles. Seriously don’t they think practically?!

wisdoms are considerably older models compared to the crowbars.
Although the look of the crowbars is not so practical, i can definitely say that it fits well although im pretty sure they’re more expensive than dragons

Oakley seems to have a much bigger variation in price as far as lenses go when compared with the likes of dragon, anon etc…at least here anyway…again just my observations, but a pair of a-frames with your stock standard persimmon (even with a more fancy frame design) go for around $150 odd, whereas a pair with a polarised lens (black with black) are in our local for $290…I mean the lens might be the best thing in the world and cure cancer on its days off, but it seems like such a huge difference in price just for a different lens…

maybe just me being niave here…who knows…

Fathers get paternal leave through FMLA (the Family Medical Leave Act) I am home to take care of my family that needed medical attention.
I dont get paid for being off, but my job is protected and held for me essentially. People can use FMLA for back pain, migraine headaches… any medically proven illness.

I am only taking 2 weeks, but if I need more, I will request additional time.

The umbilical cord was connected to the baby to get circulation and nutrients from the mother while inside.
At birth it is clamped off and cut. Traditionally the father will cut the cord.
The clamp stays on for a while and the skin from the cord is no longer flowing with blood and so it dries up and eventually falls off.
It was attached at the belly button (the umbilicus) and once off it basically leaves behind the belly button.
What determines if it is an innie or an outie belly button, I dont know.

Now that there is a separate topic for chatting about anything… this thread can get back on topic.

beats me dude. other brands have a lot smaller price differences for the different lenses.
I guess its because Oakley may be able to claim their better quality lenses based on the fact that they are also a wellknown sunglasses manufacturer?

I am sure Oakley do trade on their well known name - they would be a foolish not to.

I have several pairs of Oakley A Frames with different lenses for different conditions. When on the mountain, I wear one pair and carry a 2nd pair in my backpack in case I need to change goggles for whatever reason (changing viz, snow in goggles from massive stack, etc).  They might be slightly on the more expensive side, but you get what you pay for in the end. If you get goggles got $30, expect $30 worth of performance, etc…...Whilst I might have forked out a bit of coin for my goggles, you won’t hear me whinging about fogged up lenses, wind gap between my helmet or goggles, not being able to see, etc

FYI All of my Oakley A Frames are the non-polarised variety, but I can say I have NOT been in a position where I have been “blind” in the snow.

i dont think the sun is ever that strong on aus slopes to blind riders.
I ride with persimmon lenses, never had a problem.

I have a green lens with a slight mirror that I have been using, I like that.
I was using a rose color mostly before that.
In the night I switch to clear, Yellow is good for cloudy and overcast days to enhance the shadows.
gold is the standard for most. Many new goggles use gold, as it is applicable in most all environments.

I wear the smith phenom limited editions. love the lens, works well for all lights and saves me the hassel of changing it up.

I have this issue with their sunglasses and goggles. Either too narrow for my eyes or sitting funnily on my nose. I’m not sure if they still have many with it but the swivel clip digs into the side of my head

they have changed some of the designs on the outer side of the goggles. von zipper feenoms, dragon rogue or mace may work for you. as you seem to know nothing worst than having ill fitting goggles.

Im not sure if Oakley still have this but online, they used to have “asian fit” goggles. I dont need them but i know someone who had trouble finding a decent goggle until he tried the asian fit’s.
