The only danger here was after landing you had to hit the skids before ending up in the gully below.

It was pretty tempting not to carve into this gully of fresh but the tales of woe saved us a ski patrol rescue.

Apparently once dudes go into the gully they aren’t seen for hours, a guy lost his board down the back a day earlier and was prepared to face the heat at the rental
company than hike down for a look.

ooo oww
i saw a board once saying how much it was to replace lost rentals.
I think they charge something like 500 for a pair of lost skis…..

:O

I had a school snow trip last week and somebody had there board slide down into the nether regions of Hotham (no idea why this happened). When he went back to hire gear they told him $450 out of pocket or go get it. He looked for ~2 hours then as he was coming back he found it.
Lucky for him

Interesting, because around here they say the replacement cost for a snowboard is more than skis.
I think this is because they buy so many more skis than boards when they buy new rental gear.

When renting a board, you need to have a credit card on file incase something happens to it, but you dont have to do that with skis.
This isnt true for every resort, but the ones that I have worked at in the past require this.

Maybe they think ‘snowboarders’ will most likely not return the board if there was no credit card on file.

The rental boards are so ugly and heavy and cheap, though, but I can understand that could be part of the thought process.

That is rad! Great photos all round this week from everyone. It’s so hard to vote.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all the entries so far this season, as I’m sure many others have. smile

Also FYI this will be an annual photography contest and the prize pack for next season is going to be HUGE!

Amazing photo nudge. How is that sort of photo taken? I see it a lot in magazines and the like. Is it photoshop of rapid shots?

The rider is super tweaked on the take off!

Yeah its a static shot then merged together in photoshop. I have heard of programs that will do it automatically but they are expensive and its not that hard in photoshop with layer masks.
