Sweden 2011 - Blue Bird Powder! = my first Gopro effort

Avatar

This is my first ever GoPro effort… I got the Gopro half way through my 10weeks trip, this footage is all from the last two days.
for the most part I’m pretty happy with it! let me know what you think!

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!

The song threw me for a loop. It sounded like crystal castles but with Robert Smith singing??!!! I assumed it must have been an original cure song. Some special mix i guess?

I liked your big grin at the end of the runs. Total stoke!

One piece of constructive criticism if I may: get some backside slashes going. I’ve noticed the same thing in my vids - it’s all frontside slashery, which is great, but if you had some backsides in there too it would even things up.

Your gopro did really well going from the sun into the shade. Mine blows out the whites in the sun. I think it’s because of the sparkly snow we have here.

I want to see more!

Everyone thinks it’s the Cure…

Nice angles from the PoleCam!!! She’s a long one.
Which model GoPro Crackers?
- good pickup on the light-dark Gamblor wink (common problem with cheap sensors) I didn’t even realise it wasn’t doing it.

A quick way to tell it’s a GoPro is the pole being dead centre of the video, a big dislike of mine. Good advertising space though!!

Wicked snow!!!!!!!!!

It ran a bit long. <That’s what everyone tells me. Google stats prove it. I noticed my attention waver in the last 30s - didn’t stop me watching though
Great Vid!!!!!!!!!!!!
4/5 shaka’s

Thanks guys!

Gamblor…yeah your right, especially the spot I had it on my head cam, you dont even see that i was doing back side turns to….in the footage my mate has from a distance i leave a nice s shape trail down the slope and in my footage you cant even tell i did one back side turn….not sure how to fix that though.
I have some other footage where i tried to fix that but it didnt make the grade! haha

Spaz- still working on the pole solution ....I know you have made a few suggestions but so far those options make the rider take up way to much of the screen for my liking and in my case its definitely the scenery that is the star!.....maybe Ill have to get one of the cameras you suggest instead! haha, wanted to try a few more options after you gave me some tips but ran out of time.

Everyone - Its CRYSTAL CASTLES- not in love (Featuring the one and only Robert Smith) wink

I like the pole angle!!!! Compared to ya helmet shoot, the pole is so much better!!!!! I do like the mix of the two though!!!!

Like ya said, the scenery is the star!!!!!  wink Only kiddin!!!!! But the scenery definitely completes the overall feel of the whole thing!!!!

You could see the backside turns in there, but I think that ya frontside gouges in the pow just stood out more due to the body/camera position and the spray hittin the camera and givin ya a cover up that’s caught on film, whereas the backside spray goes by the wayside and out of view!!!!! I could be wrong, but I think that it is mainly due to the natural body position when ridin though??? And if ya were to have had the camera from the rear, ya would’ve seen them clearly!!!!

I just had a really awful vision of me riding down with my camera strapped to my rear!

you are definitely right though! but there as to be a way around it….maybe its just adding in some long distance footage using a normal cam….I did a few follow runs in powder of other people, ill get them up sometime.

This video is sick! I am jealous - especially since I think I know where a few of those spots are. I did think like the others said that there were too many of the same turns but when you explain why it makes sense. I wonder what it would look like if you held the ski pole so it showed up on the hill where you’ve just come from? Might be fun to see your tracks and the buckets of snow you’ve thrown/are throwing everywhere?
