Blackcomb Glacier opened today for the first time in about 6 days. I met up with Dan at Showcase T-bar and we headed up the the Glacier. The snow was pretty fresh although slightly wind packed in areas. We had a really cruisey run down, getting fresh snow pretty much the whole way down.

We then got word from finney that Symphony Chair was opening, again for the first time in about 6 days. We caught the Peak to Peak over to Whistler and headed up Peak Chair. We only had time to get one run in before they called last chair. The weather was really nice up there, good visibility, with great snow conditions. Some areas up at Peak and Harmony are almost unrecognisable from all the snow we’ve been getting (very close to a 4 metre base).

Here’s a few photos from today…

Blackcomb Glacier

That’s how deep the snow is. Dan is something like 6’5.

Huge avalanche off the Glacier.

Dan made a new friend at Symphony Chair

LOL ^

Nice pics Jeremy!

The two runs I did down Blackcomb Glacier today were spectacular. As Jeremy mentioned the snow was a little hard, but still good. On my first run I hiked up to the top of the Glacier and rode down over the huge lip (you can see it in Jeremy’s first photo). There was only 1 or 2 lines from up top at that stage. Unfortunately I ran completely out of speed as it was so steep. So no jump off it shut eye

Awesome morning up there for me.
Quick runs on Symphony and Peak before heading into work.

Took some snaps - will get them up soon.

Yeah another sweet day smile Nice sunny weather all morning.

I saw you Krick as I was on the Symphony chair. Did you get my text msg? I figured it was going to be hard to meet up though given you had to be at work at 11.

I was over at Symphony around when it opened (10ish) and rode there the whole day basically. There was still fresh pow but everywhere was mainly tracked out. Had one run down Harmony ridge, which was fun, and amazingly only the 2nd time Iv’e done that run. Saw a steep tree section on the left near the bottom of the run. Ducked in and found some of the best/deepest pow of the day, which was surprising as Harmony has been open for a few days.

I met up with Kim later and we hiked up Flute, which I have been wanting to do for ages. Unfortunately the sun was behind the clouds so my go pro footage will prob not be that good. As it was later in the day it was already fairly tracked. Got some nice turns though, but it went way too fast!

It’s been now 12 out of 13 days that I’ve ridden in a row, so I’m soooo shattered!!! But so stoked at the same time. It’s the best days I’ve had riding and the hardest I’ve pushed myself. We’ve had so much pow and I’ve really made the most of it grin  The knee held up way better than I expected so real happy with that too. Time for a couple days off cool smile

Thank you for an awesome fortnight Whistler Blackcomb!!!  shred

How’s the condition at Whistler Bowl or Glacier Bowl? Forecast says 10cm overnight.

Dude, unfortunately all the fresh snow is pretty well tracked out everywhere. There’s little stashes here and there but that’s about it. But, the snow conditions generally up in the alpine are still excellent, and the groomers are fantastic. If 10cm falls it should be pretty sweet.

Just a reminder for any NSW residents…

There’s a state election happening soon. You need to vote or you might get in trouble.

Pretty good day today at Blackcomb. I was very surprised there was little to no lift lines most of the time. Hit 7th first, still couple of knee deep pow stashes left. Then hit the trees. For some reason my legs and calves are really tired today. Probably the most tiring day of snowboarding I’ve had so far. Snow conditions was bumpy towards the end of the day.

Who wants to demo the Chemical Storm Octorocker 155? First come, first served. I’ll be in the Village tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to meet me.
