Cant wait!!! The only bad thing is there’s too much choice… On BC there’s 7th, Spanky’s and BC Glacier, and then Whis there’s Harmony and Peak. I know which Jeremy will pick Hopefully Symphony stays closed another day at least so we can get some more fresh stuff later.

So trueee. I’m probably going to hit up blackcomb tomorrow, really hope the alpine’s gonna open.
So fuckin Greyhound has no backup bus to go to Whistler and I wasted 40 dollars on cab fares to get to the bus station and back. So pissed right now, hope everyone will have a great day today.
That SUX Skip! Sorry to hear it. Where do you live?
I live in vancouver, around 15 minutes from UBC.
Sorry to hear it, Skip. Not to worry, plenty more powder days in the future. The days you miss make the days you get even better.
So for me today was all about Peak. I’ve been waiting patiently for days for the alpine to open. I can’t tell you how frustrating it’s been knowing all that storm snow is up there and not being able to ride each. Each day I was hopeful only to be disappointed by high winds.
Another 23cm of new snow overnight and calmer winds today. I knew they were going to open the alpine so I got up fairly early and just got straight in line a Peak Chair. finney joined me me and we waited in line at Peak Chair for over two hours. At no point did I ever think we were making the wrong decision waiting in line. Just looking up at the untouched mountain made me so pumped to get up there and shred. We were pretty cold but the epic snowball fight kept me warm enough. finney was unfortunate to cop a snowball to the nuts haha. A few people tried to sneak in line and were absolutely smashed with snowballs to the point that they had to concede defeat and leave the line. Justice by snowballs…
OK, the riding… we bombed straight over to the top of VD Trees. Untouched, waist deep, face shots, surfing the whole way to the bottom. I lost finney in there but we popped out in a similar area, both grinning from ear to ear. Went up, did it again. Went up, did it again. Caught up with Dan and did another run with the three of us. We finished off the day by doing an epic run just out of bounds near Million Dollar Ridge. Waist deep again through the trees (finney went head first into a tree but I’ll let him tell you). We hit the top of Big Timber and (forget the name of the other run) with freshies almost all the way down. Bottom mountain was pretty heavy and tracked but we were exhausted by then anyway.
Snowball fight. This was our position in line for over 2 hours. The line was huge behind us.
This screenshot pretty much sums up my day perfectly.

hope your snowballs are ok!!
Looks rad!!!
Did you end up getting gopro footage or photos of that epic snowball fight you said there was a while back? remember you said it was the biggest one you had ever witnessed
Today wasn’t as big but probably more intense. I got some footage from today. I’ll see if I can get it up quickly.

2012…................ 13????
Sounds like it’s goin off atm!!!!
Yeah it’s a bit like that, isn’t it. Should be up before 2012 though. Uploading now actually. Give it an hour.
Sweeeetttt
What can I say.. today was one of if not the greatest days of the season.
Got up the hill reasonably early and cut a few warm up laps down to red chair before meeting up with Jeremy. Stood in line for 2 hours for Peak Chair which is the longest I’ve ever waited but the wait was well worth it, thankfully a patroller came along and told everyone that the T-Bars would be opening before Peak so a bunch of people left to line up there which meant we were able to cut about half the line. Finally the time came that the chair opened and we decided against going for the hero turns down Shale Slope and shot across to VD trees. The one disadvantage of this was a small minute hike as we just couldn’t hold our speed in the deep powder but this was a great bit of exercise to warm up the legs after the 2 hour wait at the bottom. A short little traverse later and we were in the trees and it was just sensational, couldn’t have been any better and it was everything I was expecting and more. Just floating on top of bottomless powder nice big causal turns and just picked our own lines the whole way down to Highway 86. There was absolutely nothing that could wipe the smile off our faces after the first run down…. 2nd and 3rd were pretty much identical with just a few more lines through there. I was tempted to hit some other terrain but the clouds kept on rolling through and the visibility was terrible up top so the trees were the safest option and there was next to nobody following us through.
As Jeremy said in his post, I did have a bit of a close encounter with a tree.. by close I mean really close and my hip is now pretty sore. Just got thrown off balance riding a bit faster than would probably be suggested but all in all came out alright. Was a face first landing to the right of a tree with my left hip hitting the tree and the board having a pretty heavy hit aswell. Thankfully Dan and Jeremy were behind at this stage so they were able to give me a hand getting out.. admittedly Jeremy had to get some footage first but once that was done he was instrumental in me getting back into the game again haha
All in all an amazing day.. I could honestly die right now and be a happy man after the lines that were cut today
Actually I must have a screenshot of you stuck in the tree well. I’ll be back…
Glad to hear everyone had a great day. Hopefully they’ll close symphony till saturday so I can still get some fresh
Sorry finney…
