Those lift lines in your photos are hectic! I’ve never seen them like that.

Today was sick! Hit up blackcomb, got some nice pow runs, evne though not knee/thigh deep like Jez and Fin experience, still really good (your tip on riding pow really helps Jez :D). Crystal chair was really good until they shut it down after I did 1 run =(

NOTE: I am really sorry some of the Boardworld crew were either working or out injured today. Also a big thank you to finney who kept us up to date on the situation in the Alpine today. I made some turns for you today buddy. Please don’t hold this post against me. Feel free not to read on.  downer

OK…

Today had to be the best day of freeriding I’ve ever experienced. The snow was great and we pushed ourselves so hard… I can’t move right now but I have big grin on my face.

I was lucky enough to have Michelle’s brother with me today. He is an absolute nutcase (in a good way wink) and he knows the mountain better than anyone I know. We were in line at Creekside by 8:00am and we got up the mountain pretty quickly. They weren’t opening the Alpine for a while so we did a run through Ratfink and the snow was just incredible. Went on and hit Turkey Chutes, Goat Path a couple of times, and basically just found drops and cliffs anywhere we could. The lines were pretty insane again so we kept riding down to Midstation where they were cramming us in like sardines, but at least we didn’t have to wait in line.

finney then sent me a message to tell us Peak Chair was opening within the hour, so we raced over and got in line. I was always going to hit the Waterfall Cliff today; I’ve been eyeing it up all season and just waiting for the snow. Today was as good a day as any, and the fact I saw shaner in the lineup and told him I was hitting it, I knew I couldn’t back out. Needless to say it was quite a rush.

We did another run up Peak Chair, went through Frog Hollow and then did a short hike up to McConkey Trees. The snow was so deep and completely untracked. Awesome run to finish the day… and me.

I had the GoPro running all day, so hopefully there’s some good footage in there.  grin

Who was riding? How was your day? Dan, how was your run down Peak to Creek?

downer  pretty much sums up my day… Won’t bother going into details.

Next 3 days I’m going to throw myself as much stuff as possible and hunt for lines that the punters didn’t destroy today.

I’m going up tomorrow. Planning to hit whistler. You guys think peak to creek all the way down or upper peak to creek then drop down bagel bowl to big red will be better?

Hey guys, the edit from last last Monday is finally up…  grin

Who was riding? How was your day?

I went out late for “one easy run” ‘cause I was still sick with flu and about to start 4 days straight at work. After a quick lap off peak into Bagel bowl, trees, then 86 at speed to Red I realized I had to do it properly. Hit the peak again last lift of the day then Bagel into some mad tree run all the way to Creek. So much for an “easy run” with 20-60cm of fresh all the way down! (Takes the sting out of working next few days at least…)

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

Where to begin?

51cm on snow in 24 hours, clear skies, 2 days worth of powder in the Alpine. The first thing I did was put some bindings on the new Chemical Storm Skullteeth Octorocker 155, which I have been waiting patiently to ride. I thought today would be a great day to test the board in deep powder and it didn’t disappoint.

The snow was so deep and fresh everywhere. After a few amazing runs through the treed in waist deep, we got in line at Peak Chair as I was dying to get up to the Alpine. We stood in a huge line for maybe 40 minutes before it opened. I witnessed probably the biggest snowball fight I’ve ever seen. I’ve witnessed some good snowball fights at Peak Chair before but this one was epic. I’ll check soon to see if I got any photos or footage.

The snow up at Peak was incredible. Seriously some of the best snow I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding in Whistler. We rode Shale Slope, Doom and Gloom, then hit up Garbanzo Chair for a few runs through the trees. We finished the day with an epic run down Peak to Creek. At the top we took some weird way down in an out of bounds area and scored some epic powder in the trees., which eventually put us on Peak to Creek. All in all, an epic powder day at Whistler Blackcomb.  grin

Now a little cut and paste from another thread. Here’s my review from today on the Skullteeth Octorocker…

he Skullteeth Octorocker is an amazing powder board, seriously amazing. That thing floats like a dream! I was riding it through waist deep almost all day and it was so fun and bouncy on the surface; it was close to unsinkable. Super agile and a pleasure to ride in the trees. Then I rode switch powder lines and it floated just as well.

Everywhere else, the board is super playful with a soft flex and full rocker camber profile. So much fun to butter around and press on. Also worth mentioning, the board has a great amount of pop for a full rockered board. I was hooting with a massive grin on my face all day (just ask finney).

One of if not the greatest day of the season…

Hit up BC early with cam (fmf) who showed us some amazing lines off Crystal after we’d done a run down to jersey from solar where cam dropped some crazy 50-60 foot cliff but the 1st line down was crazy. We shot off towards 7th after getting off Jersey Cream and hit some great trees off 7th Avenue and then hit up Raptor’s Ride and there would have been maybe 2-3 lines through there so it was essentially untouched and some of the best powder I’ve ever had the privilege of riding.

The run off Crystal chair was insane, it was a little tracked even after being within the first 10mins of chairs up, but despite this there was still plenty of fresh to be had. After this we boosted across to Whistler and hit up Peak chair just after it opened and for the first time was a line up of people waiting to hit air jordan including a number of boarders. Have never seen any snowboarders hit it so it was pretty amazing to see. Hit up Shale slope for the first run then bumped into Jeremy at the bottom and managed to weasel my way onto a chair and then shot up for a great run down Doom and Gloom. First time through there and I think I picked the best possible introduction to it.

Ride out at the end of the day back to the village was super sketchy as I was just that physically drained. I haven’t been so utterly shattered from a day of riding all season.

Agreed. This is the one of the best, if not the best days I’ve had so far. Lap emerald a few times while waiting for peak chair to open. Some nice powder at enchanted forest. Also hit Raven for 1 run, a little bit chopped up but still good. Watching skiers and boarders dropping cliffs was pretty crazy from peak chair. Got up to Peak for the first time ever, decided to go to Bagel Bowl (I think it’s Bagel). Snow was pretty deep, anywhere between knee to thigh deep and pretty light too for Whistler. Got 2 runs for Bagel, the 2nd one being a bit chopped up pow but still good. Still trying to find that flow when turning in pow, getting better (thanks Jeremy smile), toeside turns felt a bit weird. Also got some nice face shots and heel side slashes. Was about to go to symphony but took the wrong route and ended up going to Harmony, with my front bindings loose. So scary riding with when your binding was swivelling around. Got lucky and met a ski patrol on a snowmobile and tighten my binding. Take up Emerald chair again and top to bottom run to village and my back leg was gone.

Ahhh so bummed I missed out again cause of injury!

Sounds like an awesome day guys.

Jeremy, I think that’s the same way I went down peak 2 creek the other day. Turn right off the run and go out of bounds through the trees and then it comes back to the main run.
