I’m not sure at this stage. I would say at least half a dozen at this stage but I won’t be surprised if numbers did increase. I think I might have to organise our own accommodation if there is a big group of us. One of my mates, Matt Kitshon is keen to come down for the weekend. Matt is a top DJ up here and it would be awesome if I could convince him to organise a ‘small’ house party.

Crackenback Ridge is all double glazed and well sound insulated because snow guns are directly outside the windows. I’ve been to the odd house party up there. Don’t go thinking 2nd accom yet JP, numbers aren’t in yet.

I can also poke around - there are a few function rooms attached to the hotel and I know we can book the Keller Bar for a private function. There is also the community center who on occasion will accomodate private parties.

If the BW Shred gets big enough (100+) KT may want to help us out with events.

Would be awesome if people wanted say Wed -> Sunday in a big place? and then add extras on the weekend if they want to join. Could you get a price for that Spaz and see if they will accept us for Wed -> Sunday?

Then we can work out how we split the costs etc and who would be in for each day / all days. And if we had to, swap places on the Friday into a bigger place for the weekend warriors.

I’ll start making calls next week or this weekend. I’m really busy Tomorrow.

Mizu feel free to do the same as I will be calling people I know and not accom services. (sometimes phoning friends isn’t always a plus)

Don’t know about everyone else, but my main concern when it comes to accommodation is keeping the costs low. But those pics look awesome. If the price is right, something nice like those above, would be so cool.

After finally catching up I am def interested (and Darkclouds too) and free any time in Sept, would just need to know costs involved (saving for the wedding is a priority this yr!)

I’m waiting on return emails and then we’ll start getting an idea of prices. Unfortunately my contact for the above pictured places doesn’t have a mobile phone and her hubby was driving when I chatted with him yesterday on his mobi, we hung up when he noticed the cops flashing their lights behind him. Eeek!

Trying to book dates; Wed 14th - Sun 18th. But it’s unusual to start mid week. Normal 5 day stay is Mon-Fri.
Failing a Wed-Sun booking, I’ll get prices for Sun-Sun & Mon-Sun - we’ll see who’s willing to confirm with a deposit and what days they want.

The cheapest possible hotel accom in Thredbo is $160 per person per night. That is with many conditions and is sharing a room - it’s a hotel.

To book YHA outright for a group is $1150/night and sleeps 48. They can do breaky and a packed lunch for $18pp.
For 10 people $115ea/night + $18 + $80(drinks/dinner) + lift pass $303 (3days) = $414ea per night.
20 people = $256ea/night

I’m going to work within this budget strategy for everyone.
Between $200pp - $400pp a night. Which should cover all expenses except travel.

20 people should be easy. I could easily invite other people I know and fill up spare rooms to bring the costs down and I’m sure others would be in the same boat.

We have 10 people already confirmed on BW and Jeff (chemical storm) says his crew may be quite large.

I’d say go for about 30 people and book out the YHA. I don’t mind sharing a room with anyone, but would prefer if people didnt snore

No one is confirmed yet - Until $$ are produced.
Would you be willing to cover the cost of booking YHA even for a weekend without guarantee that people will just show up to pay?
I’ve seen this scenario fail every year for the past 13 years.

BWM account for less than 10 interested in the weekend 17th/18th, Jeff could have a large crew for that weekend. What about the rest of the week?

I will attempt to speak with YHA this week and get an idea of their availability.
For 30 people the cost per night comes to about $40ea.

If we book Wed-Sun (6nights) =$6900
Hypothetically if we share the cost and say every one can stay as long as they want but charge everyone the same price. Lets say 30 come over the 6 days.
= $230ea to stay up to 6 nights. Then add on lift pass/food/travel. Hey, if 48 come =$145+expenses. And remember that expenses for 3 days will be about $500.

I think $700 for 3 days will pop most peoples budget.

Book 3 days = $70pp (48 people) + $500(expenses)ea.
Expenses will be more because 48 people trying to self cater wont happen for dinner. Cheapest takeaway in Thredbo $25.
And if we only get 20people for the weekend = $170 + expenses.

I know Azz is out of this as he wants some alone time with Tambo. So that’s -2 off the list for YHA.

If we go 5star we wont fit as many people, but can reduce costs because we will self cater all meals and be in the lap of luxury. We will have wide open living areas to socialise and wont have to worry about carrying boards to the lift or back each day because it is on a groomed run. Drying rooms, heated floors, pay TV etc,
For about the same money!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m leaning away from YHA it’s a PITA to get to and from compared.

But I’m not staying there! I’m just the organising comity, giving away a headcam as a prize, offering free headcam rental and producing a Boarworld/Chemical Storm video each day.

Spot on brother, spot on !!!!!!

I’m going to work out a Budget to cover;
Accommodation, Lift Pass, Food, Park Entry, Drinks - per person, per day.

That way everyone can easily see if they can afford it and how long they want to stay for.

spaz, I’d be down for any of those places.

I think it’s probably a good idea to also have a low budget option available for those who want it. There may be some students and younger crew that want to come but can’t if it’s too expensive. I don’t think it matter too much if half of the crew stay someone and the other half stay somewhere else. I’ve got a pretty good relationship with the guys at YHA Thredbo. I’ll see if they can give a good deal to those wanting to stay there.
