I spent most of today trying to keep up with shaner as he flew down the mountain. He was on his Kessler race board which is a bit of a cheat. He gave me a couple of runs on the Kessler which enabled me to finally beat him down the mountain (just). That thing is so incredibly fast and carves like nothing else I’ve ever ridden. I want one! Fun day for -15 degree icy conditions.

Shane, Burt the Koala, and I.
-15 ouch! Even colder when you go that fast!
I go to Big White tomorrow. Won’t really get to do much riding cause of knee but it’s gonna be awesome to meet up with some mates from Oz and check out another mountain.
Have a great time Dan.
Hey Dan, I just got back from Big White, 2 day trip. It was sick man! Probably the best snowboarding I’ve done yet. Snow was soooo goooddd, lives up to its name champagne pow. Today was really cold though -15C + wind at some areas. Hopefully there will be some fresh snow when you get there =)
They are the best race boards on the market. Check it out…
The board Shane has is for Boardercross, so not nearly as narrow as the other race boards. They are heavy, powerful, stiff, and run very straight and fast. The sidecut is really shallow which is probably why it looks wider than my board (the Kessler is actually slightly narrower at the waist).
Check out the difference between the Alpine board and the Boardercross board:

Such a beautiful day in Whistler. We have a crazy inversion going on right now; it was -7 degrees in the Village and -1 degrees and sunny at the Peak. The snow conditions were actually pretty good. We went over to Harmony for a few runs with barely anyone there. Bombed a Peak to Creek run to finish the day.
Here’s a few photos…

Yeah absolutely amazing day up there today. Was riding with a mate from my old work back in Sydney today. Started off out at Crystal Chair, then 7th followed up by an afternoon on Whistler showing him around Symphony and Harmony. Was pretty crazy hitting up almost all the alpine on both mountains in one day, definitely one of the more physically draining days I’ve had up there in a while since we were riding pretty much non stop for 5 hours with a short break to grab a beer at seppos and then a quick water break at the top of harmony.
YES it is worth being optimistic.
I had an old friend call me and drag me up at around midday today.
Ran into another friend at Creekside mid who knows every chute, stash and line on Whistler.
We hit so much terrain between lower Flute one side and Cupcake bowl on the other in just the 4 hours we were up there!
Not a lot of fresh snow but plenty of spots with 30-40cm of soft still.
You just have to hunt a bit more…
Can’t wait for that next 20cm of snow that is meant to be coming!
Anyone look outside? It’s dumping!
Early one tomorrow…
Who’s riding?
I think our whole household will be getting up early Lets hope the snow keeps on coming.
May even use a ‘first tracks’ ticket…
Nice…
How many tickets do you have? How did you get them? (not trying to poach one, just curious haha).
I’ll pay for First Tracks at some point during the season. I’ll wait for an epic dump.
hahaha Rhi and I have 3 each
We got them at the beginning of the season with our passes. Got 6 for $60. I think it was half price.

I’ll be on the first lift… if I get some sleep… and if I’m organized.
Maybe Ill see you up there.
*EDIT*
Scratch that early bit.
We all slept in at my place so I’ll be up around 9:30-10:00.

Wondering if we should get you to set up the Creekside Webcam that WB forgot to include in their set.
Just turn the camera a little to the left and it will be perfect…
(Oh yeah, there might be some hardware, coding and logistics to sort out but I’ll leave that to you - definitely more your department.)
