WHISTLER 2010/11 - The Community Blog

I’m shattered.. just got home after my first day of work, just under 10 hours all up. Straight back into the swing of things after 18 months away from the inside of a lift hut. Spent the whole day working on Jersey Cream which was pretty cool since I’ve never worked there before, lots of sweeping seats so no doubt i’ll be a bit stiff and sore tomorrow.

Hey finney, at least they didn’t open the alpine for you. 

Hit up a few runs with Dan and Michelle today. Snow was a bit heavy but nice and deep. Michelle was breaking in her new snowboard boots, so we kept Dan waiting a bit. Michelle and I hit up Franz’s all the way to Creek, was good fun!

Last day on the mountain for me tomorrow, before leaving for Miami. I’ll be checking this thread regularly, so please keep me posted on what’s happening in Whistler (aka what I’m missing out on).

Hey all, just registered here. I’m a second season rider been out around 12 times. From Indonesia but am studying at UBC, currently 4th year. I shred mostly in whistler and am going this saturday :D. How was the powder at blackcomb? I hope 7th heaven open this saturday.

It’s been snowing a lot over the last couple of days. It was snowing heavily for most the day today too. They haven’t opened any of the alpine since the snow came and they have been bombing extensively. Hopefully if the winds die down they will open either tomorrow or Saturday. There’s lots of snow up there!

I went on the 26th and 27th of November and the I thought the conditions on Blackcomb was not that good (granted I went in the afternoons, after morning in Whistler). Lots of moguls where the runs are usually nice and groomed (like the jersey cream to glacier creek). I hope the conditions are good on blackcomb this weekend as blackcomb > whistler in my opinion haha :D

forgot to mention earlier. heard through the rumourmill that glacier express is going to open tomorrow and 7th to open on saturday

no leads on symphony yet but I have a gut feeling that it’ll open this weekend

Went up Glacier Express on Blackcomb for the first time today. Was still lots of fresh snow which was awesome. Ended up doing 3 runs. Also went up Peak Chair on Whistler for the first time. Didn’t have as much fun going down from Peak mainly as the visibilty was crap.

Damn 7th heaven today was heavy wet pow. When I got there it’s already chopped up. So it’s like waist deep chopped up bumpy snow, which I didn’t really enjoy =(. Got stuck and rag dolled couple of times lol, guess need more time practicing riding pow. Visibility was pretty low too at Blackcomb.

Get out there and practice more if you must.

I had a pretty sweet day on Friday when Peak Chair opened. Had a really fresh early run down Shale Slope, then headed over to Doom and Gloom for a run. The snow was super fresh and at least knee deep. There was a a lot of big avalanche debris at the bottom of Doom and Gloom. Unfortunately had to finish the day early as I had to pack to leave Whistler. I’ll be back on January 12th.

I finally bought a helmet and have been using it for the last few days. The bruise on my arm is starting to heal, but this could have been my head… (please don’t look at my nipples .... haha )
