Yeh it sucks when that happens. WHen i snapped my colarbone and shoulder blade last year mountainbiking i had my head cam on. I didnt care about my broken bones cos i couldnt wait to get home and watch the crash. Turns out i had it on photo mode so i have a pic of the start of the run and a pic when someone took my helmet off me and “stopped” recording downer

Now wouldn’t it be great if your cam just recorded all day long and when something like that happens you push one button and it saves the last few minutes?

Avatar

Handy indead that would be! Do you offer cams like that spaz?
I have the old GoPro and it only takes a particular size sd card and thats it. So cant record all day as it will fill up in no time! I am in need of an upgrade though. See what i can get out of the olds for my bday in Jan. haha

the p&s I keep recommending to everybody has that feature. (casio fc 150). It’s only 3 seconds or so before you push the button though

Good day up the hill today, got some brilliant fresh lines on Tokum and Raven with Jeremy. The 20cm of fresh we had overnight was a lot drier than I expected given the current freezing levels so that was a pleasant surprise after how wet and heavy it was yesterday. High winds up the top were a bit of a bummer as they were forcing a lot of the lifts to run painfully slow.

Had a pretty awesome stack today, covered tree stump which I had no idea was there.. huge cartwheel but somehow landed on my feet and rode out a bit dazed, no doubt I’ll be a bit stiff and sore tomorrow for my first day of work but it was a small price to pay for the lines gained earlier on. Helmet definitely saved me from what could have been a much worse outcome thats for sure.

Thanks for jinxing me Mizu raspberry then again the wonderful technicolor bruises I had on my back have just about cleared up after copping two small tree stumps which were hiding beneath the pow.

Like the ones that the Police cars have!!!! Who makes those things????

Hope ya shoulder’s OK Dan!!!!! They say that things happen in threes!!! rider, Dan…........... Watch out finney!!!!!

There are a few new things popping up like 240fps in some cams! And a few companies that make them.

The police camera’s run into an external recorder or storage device.
If this set up needs to be used in the field it needs an IP rating over 67 and be rugged in an above standard way.

VIO make camera’s for military and hunting groups. It’s so tuff it could catch a bullet (it wont work after so I recommend not trying to catch a bullet with it)- I’ve seen inside these camera’s they are solid. The one I’ve had the longest has well over 100hrs torturous use (2 weeks in the maldives surfing, run over by skis, hit trees, a summer as my main hire unit strapped to MTB(yes, I have footage of people being launched head first into boulders) and an entire season, 80days riding, strapped to my snowboard) - It’s still running strong.
Best of all it can record in ‘Loop Mode’; you set how far back you want your clips to be recorded and when you hit the remote it saves them to your card. From 20s-30min. 10hrs Battery, 720X480(30fps)=6hrs recording.
The CMOS sensor in the first ever true 1080HD.HEADCAM, is VIO’s next model (not yet out-POV.HD) it is set to be the best miniature imager.

Yeah finney, good fun shredding with you today. A bit slow on the lifts, a bit wet, but we definitely found the pow pow.  cool smirk

Dan, I hope your shoulder is feeling ok?

I’m heading up early with Shaner in the morning. Hopefully they open some of the alpine tomorrow, there’s a bunch of snow up there just waiting to be had.

This morning was absolutely amazing!! It was a bummer getting up early for work but the powder that was up on blackcomb at the end of Solar Coaster heading towards Glacier Creek was uber awesome. Fresh, dry,  (almost) untracked powder was amazing. It was funny to see some people get caught in the unexpected deep powder!!

Perks of working on the mountain :D

Quite excited about work as well. Looking forward to opening up this Friday!

i’m quietly hoping that the alpine stays closed for another day so that I don’t miss out tomorrow whilst I’m working hahaha

If I’m off this weekend then we definitely have to hit up 7th heaven since from memory it’s opening this weekend so should be a tonne of good stuff out there just begging to be destroyed. Will happily wait upwards of an hour in the lift line to hit it.

p.s. I took tokum on the way down to the village today Jeremy and it was heavily tracked out compared to before when we hit it so unless they get another decent dump overnight go hunting elsewhere for some good freshies tomorrow.

Thanks dude. It’s a bit stiff and sore but I think it will be fine.

Can’t wait to get up tomorrow. Hopefully get some awesome Pow. I’ll give you a msg tomorrow Jeremy and see what you’re up to.
