I had my best day up yet. Stoked that I’m starting to get into a bit of a groove. I’ve never done a season so it’s been so good having the chance to go up every day. Today I was actually starting to feel ok switch on green runs and my turns in general felt way better than a week ago. Even getting comfortable again with baby amounts of air. Also adjusted my binding to 15 / -15, they were previously 15 / -10. Changed partly cause my ankle was sore and to try something new. Pain cleared up and it felt pretty comfortable so will stick with it for a bit.

Also went riding for the first time with Pete, our new housemate, which was very cool. Met up with Finney later in the day who took us through some trees on Whistler.

Can’t wait to hit it up again tomorrow!!

Yeah thanks for the input Mizu. Any suggestions are always welcome smile

I actually rode the first few days with a slightly wider stance and reduced it, but I might change it back round tomorrow and see the difference. At the moment its just over 23 inches, before I had it at 24. The boards ref is 22, but like you said mine should always be wider.

Yeah, just saw it in another thread!!!!

I liked it!!!! I reckon ya need a pole (The hand just looks too close) and it will be as good as, if not better than anythin I’ve seen on the net!!!!

Yeah thanks for the feedback, Mizu. I totally agree, I knew I got the angle wrong as soon as I saw the footage. I definitely need a ski pole (which I will steal from Michelle) to cut in half and make into a GoPro pole. I also want to experiment with helmet cam and when we build some booters I will also bring out the Sony HD. Not to mention both my point and shoot cameras shoot HD video at 720p, which is perfect for web clips. I’m looking forward to getting more.

Had a good day on the mountain today. Shaner finally got himself up the mountain so we caught up at the Roundhouse in the morning. I must say, it’s great to be riding with Shane again. He’s such a fun rider, always charging, and always teaching me new skills. He stormed onto the BC race team and he’s working towards his goal of the 2014 Olympics in Russia for bordercross. He is holding a fund raising event in January which will be a great night out. I will tell you all about as soon as we have more details.

Whistler finally has a couple of jumps in the park and a few new boxes and rails. There’s a small (but classified medium) jump at the top of the Whistler Park, maybe about 15 feet. There’s also a rock gap jump further down which they have classified as a large, but it certainly isn’t.

We caught up with Dan and finney for a few runs which is always fun. Both of them are progressing really quickly; it’s good to see them improving and getting faster and stronger.

The big news is Peak Chair is opening tomorrow. So stoked, it should be epic. There’s a lot of snow up there just waiting to be slashed and sprayed. I think I’ll take the GoPro up for another try. Who’s joining me?

Definitely in for peak tomorrow Jeremy, planing on being in the village by 830 for an early gondi up whistler. Did Michelle manage to ‘acquire’ a ski pole for the gopro Jeremy?

good to see you finally posting pyro raspberry

I’ll also come and check peak chair out. Looks pretty amazing. I’m guessing there will be some good photo opportunities up there too.

PEAK CHAIR OPENS

We received another 8cm of snow overnight on top of an already fresh cover. The groomers this morning were fresh and fast; really nice for a fast warm up run or two. Today I was given the task of guiding Yair Landau around the mountain. He is the ex-president of Sony Pictures and he also started Sony Pictures Animation. He made the movie Surf’s Up, and got to hang out with Kelly Slater and Rob Machado. He’s currently in town for the film festival and was the keynote speaker at the event. He now runs his own 3D animation production company, http://www.massanimation.com

Anyway, he is a solid snowboarder and such a nice guy. He’s been riding all over the world in places I hope to one day get to. We burned a few quick laps down to Emerald Chair in the morning, waiting for Peak Chair to open. After a couple of runs we got in line at Peak Chair. As expected, the line was rather large, but not as large as I anticipated. The visibility was low, but only until we popped out above the cloud; it was incredible. We traversed over to Doom and Gloom; it was fresh, light, untouched, and deep. We surfed, sprayed, and hooted all the way down. It was Whistler like I remember it. We shot straight back up for another, still getting really good lines. Even up the top of Peak where the snow was chopped up, the snow was still so soft, and I was riding powder within the chop.

We finished the day with a few long, fast runs down to Midstation, then the Village. Very satisfied after a good day on the mountain. Needless to say, Yair was stoked with his experience today.

Nice post Jeremy! Looks stunning up top!

We gave peak chair a miss purely because of the lift line. Still had a really fun day though. Hit up the park for the first time, just some smaller features.

Harmony Chair opened this morning. I did a couple warm up runs to Emerald Chair, then got in line at Harmony at about 9:40am. The lift was running, but Ski Patrol was still up there, so they weren’t letting anyone on just yet. The lift line wasn’t too bad when we got there, which was a pleasant surprise. The Whiskey Jack birds were out in force and landing on heads, hands, and ski poles. By the time they let people on at just before 10:00am, the line had at least tripled.

We went across to Harmony Ridge and dropped down into the bowl. The snow was so fresh and deep; it was unreal! I dipped into the trees a bit and surfed more snow. Went up for another run and dropped directly down the front face. There was so much snow, so many lines to take…

By the time I got down from the second run, the lift line was starting to get a bit ridiculous. It was a solid 15 minute wait and most of the powder was starting to get tracked. I had to get Yair down the bottom by 12:00pm, so we decided to head back to the Village.

All in all it was a really satisfying morning. I think it’s time for a sleep in tomorrow.  cool smirk
