WHAT A DAY…
There was a buzz in the air this morning as I walked towards the Creekside Gondola. Everything was white, the air was cold and fresh, people were hustling to get up the mountain - I knew it was going to be a good day. Lower Creekside still looks pretty exposed, but it shouldn’t be too long before we can ride down; in fact, I saw people riding down at the end of the day.
We received 22cm of fluffy white snow overnight, with more falling during the day. The temps were cold so the snow was light and fresh all the way to the valley. As I type it’s still snowing heavily outside.
The day began with a few epic powder runs with Louise. We dipped straight into the trees and bombed a few runs. Louise managed to find an awesome tree well (see photos below). The cover was just awesome and there was powder everywhere. No matter where we went we still found fresh lines. The lift lines were a bit crazy at Emerald Chair and Midstation, so we decided to try ride all the way to the village. It was a bit sketchy and my board took a hammering, but there was powder all the way down and it sure beats standing in line. With a bit more snow I think they can open the village trail.
A bit later in the day with caught up with Dan and Finney. I decided to push Dan a bit and introduce him to the trees. I’m sure he will agree it was worth it. We found a few powder stashes and rode until our legs went to jelly. Now we just wait for tomorrow…
